Yesterday I ran CoD MW2, click on "Team Death Match" and was taken to an 18 people Free For All on Rust. For each person I killed, I got what I believe was 4,666,666 points. The number was so long that when you killed someone it showed up as 4.666E6 (might have been a bigger number after the "E"). I was level 54, and became level 70 in less than a minute. But on the game's scoreboard, the point system were normal (if you killed three people by the end of the game, you had 300 points shown next to your name). I stayed in the lobby after the game ended and asked, but nobody seemed to know what was going on either. I stayed for another match to see if the same would happen - it did not, and the game lobby closed half way through the match. Has this happened to anyone before? Is it just a bug or has someone hacked the game/Steam?

Coincidentally, I just saw a how-to exploit video on racking up 100+ kills.

Even though it's annoying, it's a fair way of playing... I used it before, but maybe because I don't know how to use the noob tube? But I always get more deaths than kills when I'm using that set up...

I've seen some people saying the same thing in the steam forums, and worried about getting banned. Last night I decided to finally try out Cage Match, waited 10-20 seconds and then get thrown into the lobby of one of the Rust matches about to begin. I like getting into the Ground War/Rust matches, but I didn't want to get thrown into one of those and level up instantly, so left before it started.
I've had nothing but problems since the last patch, every game I lag out, and even when I'm not I get the whole slingshot effect constantly, or some of my shots don't register and the guy gets away or kills me. (even when unloading a tar on someone or knifing, in hardcoreTDM) -

Hmm, I have yet to try out Cage Match... Or anything in third person yet... How is it?

no wonder we get our kicked sometimes. -
Steam itself isn't hacked. Some people have managed to mod their own servers while they're hosting in MW2, so they set their own servers to 24/7 Rust, and set the XP per kill to something ridiculously high, so pretty much one kill will get you to level 70 no matter what. It's annoying as hell. When I see that the next map in any gametype is Rust, I just quit instantly.
As for third person games, they're pretty fun. It reminds me of Gears of War, just the way the camera is positioned. When you're using iron sights or red dot/holographic or ACOG, your view just zooms in slightly and your crosshairs tighten up, but you stay in third person. The only exceptions to this are thermal and sniper scopes, which do actually zoom you in. I play a bit of 3rd Person Team Tactical from time to time, it's fun. It's also a really good way to rack up FMJ kills for Extended Mags, since you can see when people are behind cover. -

Camping with a noob tube in domination is easier I suppose because you know where the enemies will go and you know where they spawn.

Well I don't know if this was said already(didn't read all the comments) but they have that on the XBox 360 people with flashed 360 put a mod or something in the flash so every time you killed them you went from whatever level you are to level 70, My friend did it and he went from 3rd prestige to 10th in like 3min.
-
You can't instantly go through Prestige ranks in-game; you have to manually confirm that you want to Prestige (like, through 4 different confirmation dialogs) in the Barracks menu, which isn't accessible in-game.

He could've left the game each time

>.> I don't see the point of those hacked servers when you can just manually edit your rank.

I just hosted my own ded server with 99999999999999 xp per kill and super speed
-
-
One of my friends had that happen to him. Haven't had it happen myself since I've been playing Call of Duty Four Modern Warfare One instead.

They are hacked servers. Whoever is host can access the console and change anything they want. IWnet is only a matchmaking process, and the games themselves are hosted by one client. The "hack" is getting the console to open.
After that though, you can change anything. XP per kill, gravity, reload time, run speed, etc. I've landed in one a few times, and instantly leveled up to 70 after 1 kill. Kinda funny really... -

Fair enough.

Except it's impossible to do when the game decides to repeatedly spawn you (and the rest of your team) in the same wide open area 5 times in a row and the chopper gunner has so much autoaim (at least on the 360 version) he doesn't even have to move his crosshair to continually slaughter your entire team. -
Stinger + Sleight of Hand + Cold Blooded ftw.
-
i also have a special class for the extra pesky chopper gunners
i never got how guys just don't change classes to take down air support. instead they choose to give the enemies countless free kills. if only common sense were more common. -
They never get a chance when they're playing against me.
I've taken down plenty of Pave Lows and stuff before they even started firing...hell, there should be a challenge for that. Call it "Roflcopter" or something.
If you're on a well-coordinated team, countering air support can be easy. One TDM game I played, someone on the other team called in a Chopper Gunner, and everyone on my team switched to Cold-Blooded classes, so the guy in the chopper basically had no red squares to identify anyone. -
