CoD:MW2 Impressions

lol...the users score in gamespot is 5.9 average right now with 426 votes.
People are pissed off.

 

I got through 1 game before I had to go to class again - I had a yellow connection and it played just fine. People are whining because its easier and more fun to be pissed of than to accept that maybe some change could help.

I'm not saying they did it all right - but evolution is a matter of trial and error. Why don't we have 8 fingers? Because it didn't work. Maybe this won't work, but maybe it will. Give it a fair shake.

 

get it on a console or don't get it at all.

 

no thanks i got it for pc so did my roomate, game rocks on PC... truely epic. MP is turning out to be ALOT of fun, I think its more intense with the 9v9 smaller group movements, more organization its really quite good

MP is quite fun I must admit even with only 9v9. However, I have experienced quite a few network issues...

 

Thank you for the clarification. I was told told that we'd have to use our own vent. or skype to have voice chat, on the steam forum.

Pissed off or not its a series that sells. At the end of the day its the bottom line that counts. Expect a Modern Warfare III. Wonder whats going to get cut next? Voice and text chat from multiplayer or mouse support. Yeah, thats next. Your going to have to use a 360 controller for the PC version.

No wonder you finished it so fast. Normal isn't even a real setting.

Attention all veterans of FPSes. Plz start at Hardened.
Otherwise you can pretty much blow through the campaign with using a cardboard box as cover. If you are like me, Hardened is even too ez. Expert is the way the game is meant to be played.

Sadly, this is like reading a high school newspaper. All opinion. No substance. What aspects did you not like? Map layout? Weapons performance? Interface?

To blame the servers is not realistic considering that isn't related to the actual game, but to the service.

Seriously, if this is considered a review, Tubok's review must of been a novel.

 

Some maps could really use more players, especially for team deathmatch!

 

Thats what I found, there were a few large ones that I just kept getting sniped on.

So I broke down and bought the game, it's great! The SP is awesome as always although it lacks the cohesion that MW1 had it's still awesome and very entertaining.

The multiplayer is insane. I was a total skeptic in IW.net but it is much better than what everyone expected. It's easy to find games, it's easy to party up (and your buddies show up on your HUD and have blue in game names so they are easy to find), and lag has pretty much been nonexistent.

The game is a lot more balanced than COD4 and feels a lot better. The weapons feel much more authentic and now everytime you get a kill it actually feels like you earned it. All the different weapons are customizable and they each have their own advantages/disadvantages. There are countless weapons and customizations available.

The maps in MP are awesome. They are A LOT bigger than the ones in MW, most maps also have a lot more buildings open to use unlike the first game. There are definitely some maps that could use way more than the 9v9 the game is currently limited at (6v6 for deathmatch). While certain maps could use more players, the game is still a lot of fun.

All in all, I have a lot more to say (positive things) about MW2, but I'm just to lazy to write them down. The game is totally worth the $60.

I really cant emphasize the great new maps they came out with for MP! Some are HUGEEEEEEE!!! I hope they increase the amount of players in the future (at least for certain maps).

P.S. No more dyeing every 10 seconds due to grenades or martyrdom! W00t! The game is much more focused on gunplay now

I decided to buy it because I wanted to see for myself whether the game deserved all the BAP REP it was getting from PC gamers. I can assure you that 90% of the bad rep the game has gotten was unwarranted.

Buy this game. You will not be disappoint.

 

This is quality. I knew IW won't screw us over. They've consistently delivered great sequels.

It is like people forgot how groundbreaking Modern Warfare was. You really think the same company that delivered Modern Warfare was gonna really screw themselves.

It' like when Warcraft 3 was announced and they said there was gonna be less emphasis on base building and more emphasis on tactical combat. It was a huge direction away from Starcraft. People were very skeptical. Yet people forgot. It's friggin Blizzard. They know what they are doing.

Or when WoW was first announced. Everyone thought it was gonna be like EQ. They forgot. It's friggin Blizzard.

No, you just asked the question without giving the info we need to answer it..

Assuming your CPU is up to par, I would think you should be able to max out at 1280x800, if not, at least come very close to doing so.

 

Ok... I might buy this one this weekend.

I hope I can run it at least on high settings with 30~60fps. I can do higher that in COD4. But that's 2 years old already. haha

Is multiplayer worth $60? Because the 3 hour SP campaign certainly isn't... And With COD4 and 5 I just get up to level 65 and then stop playing because there's no more motivation... And I'm probably not going to buy COD6 if multiplayer is the same old...

 

Do you think it's still possible to organize into clans, even w/o dedicated servers? It seems like you were pretty impressed on the buddy list integration. Since you're pretty experienced in gaming, I'm curious to see what you think about that possibility. Obviously we'll be missing out on dedicated/practice servers, but do you think it's feasible in general?

Anyways my friend bought it and i managed to play it just as promised and the game is awesome especally single player. I have played some of single player and some of multiplayer and i love the maps in multiplayer and the better graphics but still it could be better if it had dedicated servers, mods, 64 player multiplayer,better community like the first game the 9v9 multiplayer kinda of sucks since the maps are pretty big unlike the first game and then the game would of been a 10

So im giving MW2 a 8 out of 10 and i might buy it sometime next week

One question in Multiplayer is there a map like Shipment or KillHouse in MW2?

 

Even with my harsh rebukes me and my friend split the cost to buy it for PS3 and all I gotta say is special ops split screen, lord knows I'd be there RIGHT now if I wasn't writing a paper. Excellent game, after a few MP games however I still can't picture myself buying it for a PC, the player caps need to be lifted but me and friend on a PS3 for three hours straight on story and spec ops mode was WELL worth the money.

 

Paying unreasonable rates for other entertainment services doesn't suddenly justify paying an exhorbitant amount on a very brief SP game.

 

From what I can tell the multiplayer on the PC isn't as bad as everyone expected it to be. There will be a few people who say otherwise, but I think all of this "no dedicated servers" stuff will subside quite a bit with time.

The xbox version will be fantastic. Aside from the SP, everything seems to be an improvement. This is definitely a game to play with friends and significant others.

Keep in mind I don't have the game yet, but I plan on getting it this weekend for PC.

It really depends on what you look for in a game. But overall, I think the weaknesses in the SP are more the made up for with spec ops and MP. I am willing to pay full price for this game.

 

The SP is not weak by any means. It's a great, entertaining storyline filled action.

Of course the MP is the games strong point and will you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it, of course that depends on how much you like the game. For me it was worth the $60.

 

I still don't see why they couldn't include dedicated servers as well...

I'm most likely waiting for the bargain bin.

we should play together to unlock all the weapons and all the perks. lol. just host a game for two and get like 70 knife killz. lol. Also I found an awesome griefing technique. If you host the game and get killed - press alt+tab and pings skyrocket and everyone's connection gets screwed up. lol. people are getting so angry!!

just because he is a console gamer doesnt mean he isnt entitled to sharing his opinions. so what if the PC version has become "less" amazing than it's prequel? i do agree it's a kick in the butt, but nonetheless i just played the game SP only and it was amazing. the multiplayer might feel dumbed down but it will still be fun. just not as fun, but it isnt a 5/10 game for that reason. funny thing you say he is a troll, you should look at what you say...

Anyone enjoying the improved maps for MP? I love the fact that most buildings are now open and also love the multi-leveled maps. There are so many different angles and perspectives it's just awesome! Now it's not one, giant cluster!@#$ like COD4. Although some of the bigger maps would be more fun with more players.

I agree, get ready to get owned. lol. maps are ok, still very similar to COD4. Nothing ultra new. I really like that Afgan map. its pretty fun. I also love the anti-spam killing perk. At least it helps a bit but still, if some gets the AC130, they can still spam kill you everytime at spawning. wish that was fixed. Also, again the classes are unbalanced again. MP, its like a COD4 1.5 with the same mistakes original COD4 had but now, there is no mod support so they ll never get fixed.
