CoD4 2 / TF2

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 2 and Team Fortress 2 are the two steam games that I primarily play. Seldom when I'm playing TF2 do I see people discussing it, but when I'm playing CoD4-2 I frequently see players complain about hackers. Is this the uttering of a bewildered idiot who's ego requires him to justify a loss by crying "hacker"? Or is this "hacking" an actual epidemic? I really hate to invest time playing a game that I'll never be able to best because of cheaters, so your responses would be greatly appreciated.

Calling them "hacker" is probably incorrect. Most of them probably payed to download cheats. It's pathetic but what can you do, these people were certainly born losers.

Honestly most of the time, I'd still get the top score, and most often top 3 in every game, so I don't think there are a lot of cheaters...that or cheats aren't that effective against skilled players. At least there are not a lot of blatant ones I think. Maybe Vac is ineffective if the op is correct? I don't see how punkbuster would be effective, but then again I don't there are a lot of bf2 people that cry "cheats" so much. Of course in a bf2 server you have servers with admins. And I have seen hundreds of people get kicked by punkbuster in a server...which in a way is nice since the server shows in text, the person that got banned, and the name of the cheat they used. MW2 unfortunately, does not do this, so you don't know if Vac really works.

 

Cod:MW2 does not have dedicated servers, it's simply impossible to have contain any cheating on a multiplayer platform like that.

TF2 is run on dedicated servers, this makes preventing/catching/banning cheaters significantly easier.

Good news is that CoD series is correcting this problem with their next release, Black Ops, and adding in support for dedicates servers.

Anyhow,

Call of Duty 4 has a minority of cheaters nowadays. As for Modern Warfare 2, I would stay far clear of that mess.

 

in fact , i'd say MW2 better than MW1 overall

1. There certainly is less spam which just gives u unnecessary deaths.
2. Certainly almost zero cheats.

On the other hand , there are no dedicated servers and it is a Pain the but still i rather have MW2 than 1.. its a gentleman's game i'd say compared to MW1.

 

MW2 is in no way better than MW1.

Blasphemy! Besides, there should only be more hackers in MW2, since it's using VAC2 which is not as affective as Punkbuster.

 

The use of hacks has become so bad that I cant/dont play MW2 anymore. Its growing like a wildfire. Every other match I play there is a hacker in the game. Usually multiple hackers. Only playing BC2 now until Black Ops comes out.

 

pb is better, i think treyarch won't make the same mistake, especially with the new moh around the corner that'll give blackops stiff competition.

 

I've played MW2 until I was prestige 9... As addictive as it is its simply to unbalanced and frustrating to take seriously.... CoD:BO better not fail.

 

i'm still playing MW2 and i'm actually having time fly which is what i want while i wait to get my new laptop

 

the best is when someone calls u a hacker and u know ur not hacking

but yeah im sure MW2 is pretty bad by now. I played it the first day it came out, that night people were already cheating.

one i remember is some nade launcher that just spammed nades all day.

that and people joining a match that is ffa with like 32 players on small map and just spawn kill each other to get their levels up... thats the way a real gentlemens game is meant to be played.

 

Honestly I created this thread because I couldn't determine if people in my games are cheating. I still can't tell. For the most part I enjoy playing the game and for the most part I don't see anyone with a much higher score than they should have. If the cheating is as bad as some of you folks say it is, that sucks - but for the majority of games I play, my experience remains pretty solid.

 

Honestly if I were or actually new how to cheat, the majority of my games wouldn't be getting Nukes or 50:0 kill death matches. I'd simply use a tracking system to avoid and hunt down the people who are getting the best kills... That would surely peeve them.

I assume this is what most people do. Its the satisfaction of controlling how the game takes place that keeps "hackers" delighted.

And I can see why. Always winning and peeving people off in CoD is an endless high.
