Just brought CoD4 and im blown away by its game play.
I own CoD-WaW and although its good its not as good as CoD4 IMO, the gameplay is fast, challanging and addictive, the AI seem alittle sharper and more responsive and the story is very good.
I just finshed the sniper level in single player campaign and i absolutely loved it, havent had so much fun in a FPS ever.
Whens CoD modern warefare2 due for release.....i hope it has co-op

Yeah, Im so waiting for mw2. waw is not too fun imo. and wait til you get good enough to beat the whole game on veteran, including the bonus level lol. I think I tried that level on veteran 100+ times before I finally figured out a good procedure to through it.

    Have fun! cheers

I loved COD4 a lot and all this talk of it makes me want to reinstall it and play it again. I haven't played multiplayer in a long time :(

I couldn't agree more with you all. I have both games and WaW wasn't a good game at all. I didn't enjoy it but a very few times. The story is so similar at some points to MW that makes you think 'Are you bloddy kidding me?'. I haven't finished it yet but I don't think I want to. And the multiplayer is awful. I am still playing online with the MW (the online hours I have devoted on that game are just memorable). I wish they will release more maps before the MW2.
I am sooooooooo looking forward to MW2.

oh cool theres a bonus level sweet, haha veteran no chance im playing it on regular and getting killed multiple time per mission, the story just gets better and better, ive only really just started getting into FPS but this is by far the best ive played to date. Does it have a zombie type mode after completion? And does the arcade mode show points scored as you kill the enemy or just a total score, hmmm is that clear enough....in CoD-WaW in co-op when you hit or kill an enemy the points show up where the enemy is, does that happen in CoD4 arcade mode?.
I cant get enough of this game. I now its acouple years old but if you dont own it or arnt to sure about FPS this is the type of game that changes views....SIMPLY AWSOME

do it mate.......and enjoy....still seem to be a heap of people online with it.

I just played like 3 hours of COD4 multiplayer :).

It's becoming a tad too easy lol. My RT M16 with RDS just obliterates everything in my path.

Yep, COD4 has to be one of the greatest games I've ever played, especially the single player albeit short.

I totally agree. It is probably the greatest war game of all time, IMHO. It really gets the adrenaline pumping at times.

I agree that the game was too short. That was my only complaint.

    And yes, M16+RD+Stopping Power FTW!

Agreed. The world wars have been driven into the ground. Plus, with everything going on these days, modern warfare is just more interesting.

Well only 1 world war has been played much. The other has been untouched, save for a few obscure bad RTSes. And I'm sure it'll stay that way.

Anyways, as much as COD4 was fun, one must admit that it wasn't innovative in any way whatsoever. It was all just a simple FPS wrapped inside a very, very immersive environment.

The only thing I did not like about COD4 were the small multiplayer maps which led to boring nadefests.

I still havent finished the single player campaign but im sure its close, usually i would openly critize a game that is this short but it has been the most fun ive spent in a single player campaign in a very long time, the old saying "quality over quantity" really fits nicely in this case.
The story is immersive, intense and jam packed full of twists and turns, its a buzz to play it, its more than the average FPS in my eyes as it challanges you to better yourself, its difficult enough on regular to make you step back and use stratagy to complete a mission and thats a big plus for the game.
Even with the short storyline its still possibly a 10/10 game IMO, i just cant find a fualt with it yet.

I don't really think you will find any faults with it, besides the fact that when it ends you will want more

And the ending is the most moving part of a video game I have ever seen.

I really miss COD4!!! I uninstalled a PC version that my friend gave me because he had broken punkbuster rules (that meant that I could only play on like the 50 servers that weren't punkbuster enabled).

Then I had to make a decision between a new COD4 (PC) or COD:WAW. I picked WAW, and I have to admit that I regret it. COD4 had a certain refinement that WAW lacks. Essentially WAW is a bad copycat, and the multiplayer is not as good. I don't know if I can wait for MW2...I might concede and buy a new COD4 (PC)...The best game I've ever played (BAR NONE)

Not a surprise, they were made by two different companies.

CoD4 = Inifity Ward, who also made the original Call of Duty 1 and 2.
CoD:WaW = Treyarch or whatever... they also did a couple of the Xbox CoD's.

Inifinity Ward does much better games IMO. Listen to the song during the credits of CoD4, you'll hear something like "Infinity Ward blah blah with CoD 1, 2 and 4". HAH!

COD4 had easily the best history in a FPS that I ever saw. It was like Black Hawk Down meets The Sum of All Fears meets Rainbow Six. It gives you an experience as good as reading the best military technothrillers available. Im looking forward anxiously to MW2.

yeah 2 years late but in the case the old saying " better late than never" definatly applies, its just a fantastic game, the story just keeps getting better and better.......hope to finish the single player campaign today.

can someone take the time to explain the scoring in arcade mode? Im wondering weather when you score a kill points show up where the enemy was like in CoD-WaW co-op mode, or if you just get a points that acummulate in the top corner of the screen?
    Thanks

I have never played WaW, but when you kill somebody in COD4, the points kind of "explode" from the center of the screen. I don't really know if they come from where the person was killed (never really looked closely), but I know for a fact that they do not just accumulate in the corner. There is some eye-candy when you kill somebody in arcade mode.

    Hope this helps!

Hehe, I got done playing a few hrs while my GF was trying to say something or another to me, I dunno as I wasn't really listening but yeah, CoD4 is pretty fn addictive.

If you want to see some hardcore demoralization you should play on a server with me :) I generally place 3rd to 5th every game . . . . . without using a gun, grenade, AS or heli :D Nothing beats the sound *shink* in CoD4 :) I think its the most frightening sound for anyone that is affraid to let anyone get close to them before they start firing wildly :) Then theres the joy of knifing the same person 3 - 10 times in a single game, usually at that point they start to realize even thier bullets are no match to your knifing skills and your ability to loop the map and come up from ebhind thier team for a 3 - 7 kill knifing streak.

thats exactly the answer i was looking for, it makes it more fun when u can get points for kills and see like 2x 3x 4x kills etc flash on the screen, yeppee im off now to finish the single player campaign so i can unlock arcade mode.

Just spent some time in the arcade mode.........very nice feature.....(wishes CoD-WaW had it), definately adds to the replay value of the game when you can try and better preious scores/times etc, really like the idea of having lives as well.
I finished CoD-WaW and after completing it had not incentive to play through the single player again, so now the only time i play that game is when i lan with a mate......

i guess im lucky in a way, being in rural india has its benefits not being able to obtain a decent internet connection, so i cant play online which serves a twofold purpose..
1: i could see myself getting hooked
2: id only get frustrated at how bad i was

one of the benefits of living in india....games are very cheap, average of between 600-1000rupees ($10-20) for a genuine copy of a new game. I got both CoD4 and WaW for $40 combined, CoH gold 600rps, etc, so i can buy a heap of games and enjoy the single player campaigns, but not the online experience.

Sort of, I mean, the multiplayer was fun for a while...after that brief period of "fun time" I dare not touch COD4's multiplayer anymore, I typically just rage quit after 5 minutes or so. :p

yeah, the custom maps are pretty fun, i played one called mini mice (i think) but the map was a giant kitchen and and you could climb in cupboards and everything.
