After a certain amount of play in cod 4, my pc locks up and then unfreezes and all my textures are messed up in cod 4. Do you guys know why?
Gpu overheating? (haven't had a chance to check heat because im usually in middle of a cal match when it happens then i have restart laptop and get back in the game)
    Or driver issues (174.54)

I doubt it's GPU overheating... I've played the games for 4-5 hrs straight and didn't get any problems.

Use Rivatuner to monitor the temps while gaming and see if it's due to that.

My laptop gpu fried after it began giving me weird textures in bf2. Don't shoot the messenger, i'm just warning you. After I got it fix, a few months later my gpu was running extremely hot. I CAREFULLY blew some compressed air in all the vents and then tested what my gpu temp would be under load. This time it was almost 20 degrees Celsius cooler. Just be very carefull with compressed air because it can easily damage your computer.

are you overclocking the gpu? if so turn it off. also remove the save games or move them elsewhere on the hdd and reload cod 4 i had this problem with cyrsis and after a reload ...all's fine again. another thing you can try is adding a GOOD laptop cooler.

Seems like a driver or artifacting issue... be aware that this may cause permanent damage. Cease overclocking if not, then consult computer manufacturer to get it fixed.

Is it a new laptop or an old one...if its old maybe its screwing up on hardware failure. try to clean it all up and give it a try. Like another poster said...BE careful with compressed air and stay bout 10 inches away from the object u are spraying
