    hi,
its been a while since ive posted in these forums.
im coming up on a break from school soon and ive decided to get back into gaming for a little bit.
my system is a few years outdated...im running an ancient geforce 9800m gts with a intel core2 2.4ghz...
ive been doing some research here on the forums, and it seems like there is a whole new world of GPU's and CPU's out there...
im thinking about upgrading to a sager NP8298 which ive configured with a geforce GTX 870m and a Core i7 2.8-3.8 processor..comes to about 1400$ which is my upper limit.
ive also been reading some stuff about nvidia's new maxwell processors or something..and i was wondering if getting the sager now would be worth it or not. when i start school again in the fall im not sure ill have much time for gaming, i just need a decent system for the summer that will play most games at decent setting (med-midhigh)..but i also plan on using this new system for atleast as long as ive had my current laptop (4-5 years) and im wondering..if the gtx870 has any longevity for the next couple years...

The 870M is a good card. If you're looking for longevity, though, the higher the better. But, with a limited budget, I think the 870M will suffice. It will last you a good while, as long as you don't need to play everything on the highest settings. Welcome back. ;)

860m/870m is a good option, especially if you overclock, check my signature below. Also no system can last 4 to 5 years with good quality gaming, especially laptop GPU's. The 870m will play most games maxed, besides crysis3 and last light. Should last you a good 2-3 years as long as you dont need every slider maxed
