Well guys, who else is excited about the new expansion pack for Command and Conquer 3? EA has promised to bring great upgrades to current units, introduce new units, and a massively long campaign that revolves all around Kane and the Brotherhood of Nod.

graphic wise, its good......but im not into RTS
-
GDI gets freakin....mobile sonic emitters. Those big NOD units I see better be some sort of APC.
-
Man, I have played all the C&C starting from Red Alert to Tiberium Sun. I haven't played the 3d ones yet, starting with Generals I believe, becuase I got bored in RTS single player. I have Generals and Zero hour, but never got around to play them.
Maybe I should just skip to C&C 3.
-
I do not like playing NoD though, because their tactics seem to be more like throw hundreds of weak units at things, and accept the losses. I prefer to have fewer powerful units and try not to lose any.
Graphics look the same as the regular game. -
Yeah....I own both Generals and Zero Hour....played it quite a bit....but not online. CnC3 is a very fun game online IF you play with the right people. I see no problem in jumping straight from TS to TW.
Well, I'm actually part of the Brotherhood....and I don't throw weak units at my opponents. Although I try new things all the time, I use a lot of strategy when playing was NOD....especially their Stealth abilities. Anyway, what more could you want from the graphics? I thought EA did a great job on that. -
lol thats how i play zero hour. works great, i rarely lose anymore
-
Yeah the graphics are great, just saying they did not improve much in the expansion. Not saying they should have, just saying they didn't.
It just seems with NOD they focus more on the infantry and stealth units. I just prefer GDI.
-
Let's go a little off topic here:
What's your favorite/collest unit in TS and TW
TS: The cyborgs w/ machine guns who get their legs blown off and still keep on shooting
TW: Haven't played it yet -
Where'd you get infantry for Nod? They also have heavy armor like the Avatars. If used correctly, they can do some massive damage. Nod does have Shadow Teams, Blackhand, and Fanatics, though. All three of them are awesome. However, GDI has its Zone Troopers and Snipers....and Scrin have Shock Troopers and the Mastermind.
TS: Cyborg Commando, normal Cyborgs, loved the Mutant units as well
TW: Too many....Avatars, Tripods, PACs mainly -

NOD is going to awesome
-
when are they going to fix juggernauts...they were so good and cool in the demo, but now their accuracy sucks so much that they miss a building even when it's right in front of it (try it - of the three, at least 1 is guaranteed to miss)
theyre useless if u get mammoths
cool game though, very fun. -

I love it so much. I love the NOD Avatars..Squish a vehicle, and use it to its advantage.
-
Yeah, it's a very very expensive, but powerful unit after that. I don't do that often, only against a noob, because it's too dangerous if it does, indeed die, and the opponent picks it up.....

Well, I always have engineers protected by anti infantry vehicles..so, it's not always a problem. 1 problem are those orca fighters..or enemy venoms. -_-
So cheap if you mass like over 50 venoms, cheap, great vehicle, annyoing if spammed.
-
Yeah, annoying if the sole unit they use, but I don't consider....eh...maybe. ..30 Venoms spam. Sometimes, massing them is a great strategy for early game. You send in maybe 40-50....assuming your also defending your base. Then you attack his base, and do some damage to vital structures....and then retreat. Then roll in the scorpions, Avatars, and other units. The opponent would probably start massing anti-air and by the time he realizes it (unless he scouts) he will have been surprised by all your other forces.
-
mass venoms is overrated...be prepared, and theyll fall like flies.
mass pitbulls, on the other hand...anti armor, anti infantry, anti air. unstoppable

Well, if you had some 7 mammoth tanks..protected by orca fighters, and 1 GDI commando, 2 sniper team, 3 squads of missle squads, and 5 squads of rifleman? maybe? -
No....I never said it was hard to counter venom spam....it's only hard when you didn't see it coming. On a map like Tournament Coastline...it's VERY easy to send aircraft over the water and assault the enemy's base from behind. I did that with a mothership....was fun...

I enjoy the RTS genre quite a bit, but my overall experience with C&C3 has been pretty bad.
In its current state it is unbalanced & buggy, the economy is totally out of wack and promotes spamming, MOD SDK and Battlecast still haven't been released, and EA fails to punish disconnectors/cheaters in anyway (their latest solution to the disconnecting problem was not to give the disconnector a loss, but to give BOTH players a disconnect yet no loss....genius).
So yea I'll say it now I've uninstalled the game and vowed not to buy the expansion (unless the game gets fixed).
I'll also add I was a high level player in this game ( acc: ToT)LinKeD( ), and was so disappointed when they effectively removed micro from C&C3 (in patch 1.05 they turned all cannons/rockets into heat seeking missles). So post patch 1.05 everything came down to having a perfect build order and spamming. If you deviated from the 'perfect build order' even slightly there was a 90% chance you'd lose the game. So basically every game was the same spam-fest with attack-move and I just got sick of it, no reward at all (because the promised ladder season hasn't started despite it being 6 months into release....)
I'll end the rant now just be warned the expansion might go the way of BFME2: ROTWK (no support as soon as EA got the money). -
Of course it promotes spamming... What do you expect... it's called RTS - Real Time Spamming!!!
-

You don't exactly enjoy RTS games do you? -
LOL... it was supposed to be a joke... But even IF I like spamming stuff doesn't mean I don't enjoy RTS...
And besides, if you want to play a spam-free game, go play Company of Heroes, they've got a unit cap.
-
Hey....spamming Tripods/PACs takes a lot of resources.
-
And you can't say it's not fun!!!
-
For real. It's C & C. What else did you expect beside tank rushes?
A micromanagement RTS would be Warcraft 3. -
Warcraft 3 is pretty good but the one thing I don't like about it is that once someone have a high level hero and if you don't then it's really hard to win...
ie. if you lose your first battle against his hero and your hero got killed by his and he got level up... Even if you have tons of other normal units (not the dragons...
) on the field it's really hard to defeat a high level hero without using your own high level hero.

Where is the NOD Artillery from CC sun !! I demand the return of the NOD Artillery that never misses !
-
Meh. A battalion of mammoth tanks and... WTH... mobile sonic distruptors?... will be unstoppable. Well, save for a nuclear missile launch, an ion cannon strike or a warp rift.
Those sonic distruptors remind me of the Distruptor in Tiberian Sun and the Microwave Tank of the USA in CnC Generals Zero Hour. -

errhm its tiberian sun -
I'm a total noob when it comes to RTS games, but I did pick up C&C3 and like it. I'm going back to Generals just to sharpen up a bit, but sometimes I feel like I'm missing out on watching the action since I'm moving around so much. These games feel much different that what I'm used to, but it's all good....
-
The only strategical counters to a Mammoth Tank Spam are Vertigos to destroy their Tech Center, stealth buggies to EMP the Mammoths en route to your base, and then Fanatics to rip them to shreds. It works..
