hi i just ran systemrequirementslabs.com to see if my comp can run C&C3:TW, and i passed everything (recommended) except for OS, which is Vista, and i have XP. so im just wondering if it will still be fine and everything if i pass all the other recommended things except for OS.
thx

You'll do great.
Ignore the OS recommendations unless you run Win98 or 2000 for some newer games. -
I run C&C3 perfect on XP.
-
1280x800, medium-low settings, x1400.
averages 25-30.
so your fine.
-
is the game quite nice when turned up to high? i think i could live with med-low settings judging from those screenshots
-
The game look fantastic with everything on high.

I'm actually thinking of buying C&C3 but then I tried the demo and now I'm not quite sure. My results are as follows.
I played the C&C3 demo on my Dell Inspiron e1505 (2.0 Ghz T7200 Core 2 Duo / 2GB RAM / x1400 / Vista) and found it to be definitely playable at med-low settings at 1200x800 and a bit better when I lowered the resolution from 1200x800 to 1024x600.
HOWEVER I cranked everything all the way up just to see how good it would look (and it looked gooooood). I estimate I had about a 5-8fps framerate (even when overclocking my video card pretty high). It looked great and wasn't impossible to play but it was hard to look at the screen after about a minute.
The worst thing I got from this experiment was the fact that it looks SOOO good on highest settings that it's SOOO hard to go back to med-low. So, while the game is very fun and plays great at med-low, I'll always have that demon of a feeling sitting in the back of my mind screaming to me that I'm missing out on all those pretty shadows and bloom effects. But then that little RTS fan angel pops his head in and whispers, "Hey, don't forget the game's fun even without effects."
In conclusion, the GRAFFEX HOAR in me will always long for those effects but the RTS gamer in me can settle because the game is so much fun. -
well you do have a low-mid range card... which limits your quality settings and resolution.

My card can manage C&C3 with everything on maximum except for AA and shadows; those are both off altogether. But the game is incredibly well optimized and delivers fantastic graphics with the hardware it is given.
-
x1400, 1280x800, all settings are at ultra high, 10 frames per second average.

Why do people use systemrequiermentlabs.com anyway? I mean all it does is look at your system and match it against the requierments of the game. You can do that yourself easy by just looking at the box in the store (or on-line) and remember what the specs are of you're computer/laptop. Or is it just me...
Anyway, you should be fine. No problems. -
sweet, i just got a copy of it off ebay for $21 shipped!
-
How will an 8600m GT DDR2 handle this game? High settings?
-
-
What about a 8400m GS on highest settings with maybe low AA mode?
Anyone know? -
I can play on the highest settings except Shadows are set to High not Highest, and AA is on 2X. Game is smoooth.
But multiplayer is horrible nightmare, I still yet to play one game, without disconnects, or can't start the game because people joining and leaving, or the game just wouldn't start at all because someone cannot get verified when pressed ready and start the game. -
Hopefully I'll be grabbing this game soon -
-
I hope it doesnt lag when you have large bases and army's on multiplayer mode
Might give strategy games a go again. Been on the FPS for too long -
Did you guys know that if you buy the "Wraith of Kane" expansion for cnc3 you will get a beta key for Red Alert 3 aswell in the box!
Its like a win - win situation hehe

Why not buy the game? Wrath of Kane sounds like fun. If you buy a key of eBay you could end up paying the full price of the expansion pack just for a key. Better grab a game to go with it IMO.

I gave up on c&c expansions for quite a long time ago. But if it's fun, give me a ring.
