Is anyone playing Command and Conquer 3 or C&C3 Kane's Wrath? I just recent got the game and its been playing great. Ive even got the courage to go online and spar up a few matches, but all in all, plp online are GOOD.

So i thought to start a multiplayer strategy thread for anyone who plays, and hopefully plp do play this game!

Whats everyone's favorite faction, winning strategy and what units do you guys go for.

I also found this pretty good web site for unit stats and it should help out with approaching the game from a technical stance:

    Enjoy

kinda off topic but I don't usually touch multiplayer for RTS games other than sc and wc3.. i hate investing an hour building up your force only to have them wiped out in like a minute... -.-

on topic... does massing mammoth tanks still work?...

yeh thats the sucky part about losing online, all that work into bass expansion and building up anti tank personale to only find that the opponent has went all infantry.

mass mammoth tanks still work but dont count on getting since most games are over by then. But if you manage to get 6+ mammoths and support units, chances are its gg for your opponent.

Its funny to go online and see how many plp are obsessed with building an all powerful tank army. But the beauty is in developing your own strategy. Im not very good yet but Im starting to love N.O.D. Im using the early rush disruption, later full tank assault strategy. I just have to work the economic progression and advancement speed better.

So there is a even bigger tank now M.A.R.V in the expansion and its so bad ass that it can run over other tanks! Im still waiting to pull that one off online, but its hard, you only get it way later in the game. =/

yeh man, its a pretty fun game, i just bought it and already im pretty immersed in the strategic dimensions.

Its got alot of things going for it just to name a few:
a long and well established series and storyline
great graphics with low requirements, its really really cool to fire lasers and blow things up in this game
Its fast paced like starcraft, and has alot of strategic elements like starcraft like unit/weapon types along with its strength and weaknesses, so if you like RTS in the old days ones even better.

anyways im done raving, you show read some reviews and see if they interest you.

Well, I don't have the expansion yet so I haven't played in a while, but I was pretty decent at online multiplayer back in the day - I won a few one-on-threes where I wasn't in the three ;) - here's a few quick tips.

    1. You cannot be slow. Slow = death. If you're taking more than a few minutes to ramp up unit production, you're going to get steamrolled.

    2. Turtling doesn't work. It just gets you nuked/Ion Cannoned into oblivion.

    3. That said, base defenses are good in moderation. A base with no sentry guns is asking for an engineer to take its con yard.

    4. Balance your forces. No, massing mammoth tanks doesn't work unless you're opponent is retarded. Mammoths get torn apart by fast-moving air units, rocket soldiers, and well-placed AoE (sonic towers, artillery, etc.) IF you're bringing all of one unit type, you're asking to get your butt handed to you.

    5. If you let your opponent get off a superweapon strike, you're doing it wrong. Be faster next time.

    6. Use engineers offensively. This is both fun and effective. If there's an enemy building without defenses near it, snatch it with an engineer and throw down a few "defenses" of your own that you already had ready. Nothing makes your enemy go into panic mode like Obelisks in range of his construction yard or power grid.

    7. Resources are life. This seems obvious, but a base without power or Tiberium flow is useless. Target harvesters and power plants, and use fast-moving units (stealth tanks are especially good for this) to knock them out and get out of dodge.

    8. Juggernauts and Beam Cannons out-range base defenses. Remember that before sending over 9000 light tanks to their deaths to get through that wall of sonic towers.

You dun need 1 hour... the fastest game i played is 10 minutes.... Heck, you dun even need to amass tanks... hit and run is definitely awesome! (if ya playin nod)
You really need to play this game since it's a fast pace action rts.. nothing is slow like SupCom.

I hate super quick games. I am not the fastest with the mouse and cuing the right units, etc. I usually play online with friends because we have similar skills and are more likely to follow our own rules. I hate when games have pretty much ONE significant way to win, like Mammoth tanks. It eliminates the whole "S" part of the RTS.

That being said, I usually play PC opponents until I find one or two maps that I like, and then concentrate on getting better with those. Then I host my own games with those maps and try out my strategy with real people.

I used to really suck at C&C Generals until I practised like this. Then I started to stomp the enemy. Funny thing is too, that I was able to move at MY pace, which isn't too furious, snail paced almost, really. LOL.

I used shadow team rush and followed a scorpion tank hit and run, that's quite some "S" inside that RTS...

C&C is the best RTS series ever, and C&C3 just rocks, can't wait for red alert 3

I tried that too, you can pump out 5 shadow teams within a minute and just go for their war factory/barrax and refineries, the only problem i have with this is that they cant destroy harvesters =/.

I dont know whats your build strategy for them but mine looks like this:

    powerplant
    hand of nod
    sacred shrine
    Build 3 shadow team
    Call for shadow team (ability)
    Refinery
    Sell sacred shrine
    War Factory
    Attack with 5 shadow teams
build 4 bikes -> go for harvesters
    Refinery
    Warfactory -> scorpions and buggies

    That usually end the game.

Everytime I drag a** on resource gathering I get crushed. Can't execute any real strategy without the goods.

I find this game more challenging that starcraft online play in many ways. People usually try to build up the economy first and if you set up a descent defense you can usually repel any early sabotage. That rule is so far out the window in C&C3 online.

That's my issue. C&C 3 is a rush game slaughterfest. Fastest with the mouse wins. Typical games are over in 5-10 minutes whereas with C&C Generals or Starcraft it can be a 45-60 minute tug of war, which is the way a strategy game should be.

Now, just to nitpick a little bit, C&C3 + Starcraft end up being more tactical than strategic. Strategy is what we are talking about right here, the moment you start a game like C&C3 you don't have time to continue with strategy, you transition directly to tactics.

Only really large and long games (sins of a solar empire) ever really get strategic.

well the strategy is different in C&C and sins of a solar empire. C&C is more about winning a battle in my opinion, so its more action oriented rather than the divide and conquer type.

Online C&C at its best becomes a war over resources and utilizing different strategies to sabotage the other players progress while trying to expand your tech tree rapidly and amass a winning team.

(But the producer of CnC3 and RA3 is quite dull, dun you find it so... I always almost fell asleep when he tries to talk and be funny)
