Im looking in to buying a laptop and I want to be able to play command and Conquer 3 on it but EA says they dont suport laptops intagrated graphics cards. but ive heard of people who get it to work on there laptops. I was wondering if any one could tell me if you know of a laptop for $600-$750 that could play C&C 3 I just want to play a few games on it but I dont have much money for a nice laptop.

I assume in USD. I highly doubt it. C&C3 has quite good graphics,(someone correct me if i'm wrong) and would require at least a go 7300 in my opinion to get decent frame rates, and that would be on absolute low settings. i would say you would need to spend at least $1000-$1200 for a laptop to play it half decently. If you want to know of a laptop fill out the questionaire in "what laptop shoud i buy".

You can play it on a intel GMA 950 just fine.

But you could configure a nice hp dv6000t (great laptop) with dual core, 7400go, 1gb ram, and 5400rpm hard drive for $715 not a bad deal.

Yea it could run it, i highly recommend the hp with 7400 though.

950 is integrated. a dedicated card is like 4 times better and takes a load off your processor as well.

There are two ram slots on the motherboard. 1 GB total ram can be either:

    2 x 512MB chips or
    1 x 1024MB chip

The 1024 MB chip is better as you can easily upgrade in future by adding another ram chip. However, two sticks allow your laptop to run in dual channel mode for a small performance increase.

Uhh, you will have a very very tough time playing on an integrated card.

Trust me it isn't an experiance you want to endure. Also your memorys of it will be much much poorer. It was meant to be experianced on at least high settings. I would advise you to save up for a nice laptop, rather then go for a medium quality one now. Because if it can't barely run todays games it will have no chance for future ones and you kinda blew $1000.

It would be folly to buy a laptop today, if you want to game with it, and not get a dedicated GFX card.

Also games like C&C (RTS's) are notoriously CPU heavy, so you should definatly think of not slacking in that area.

Trust me I've made the mistake of wasting money on a laptop that was on the brink of being obsolete. You'd be much better off waiting if you can't afford some of the better upgrades, if you plan to do much gaming that is.

    HP dv6000t: Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit), Intel(R) Celeron(R) M 440 (1.86 GHz/1MB L2 Cache), 15.4" WXG256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400, A BrightView Widescreen (1280x800), 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm), 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive(ill probably get a external hardrive with like 500GB), 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support, 802.11b/g WLAN, 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

all For a total of $807.99
would this run it sufficiantly, i was told the HP dv6000t was a nice computer that could run C&C on high settings if set up right (i might be able to get a better processer but thoughs are expensive and i wouldn't be able to aford on for 1/2 a year or more)

Ok, well sorry for the upload site (I didn't know a good one, so I just searched one up on google) http://files-upload.com/221977/medhighimages.rar.html

Anyway, I would have just shown the pics, but my photobucket wont let me upload pics that big. The archive has 6 pictures in it, 3 are on the ultra high setting, and 3 are on medium. They are all 1920x1200. And as close to each other as I could get (ingame).

    I hope this helps...

Alright cool. The largest noticable difference is that med doesn't have shadows. And unfortunatly alot of the cool effects like dust from moving tanks and fire effects and other stuff. The differences in game are magnified 5-10x. But really it is very playable at med.

    i do not know, but i was wondering why the Intel(R) Celeron(R) M 440 (1.86 GHz/1MB L2 Cache) is 75$ less than the Intel(R) Pentium(R) dual core T2080(1.73GHz/1MB)
when its the same except the celeron has .13 GHz more speed?

Clock Speeds don't neccessarily translate into better performance. Well, I guess it does when the processors are the same, but for a single core vs. dual core, a dual core will (almost) ALWAYS outperform the single core, even if the clock speed is lower.

Are we supposed to post the compatibility of CnC3 and the specs of the laptop we're using?

Anyway, I'm happily playing CnC3 at 1280x960 with high settings. Absolutely no stuttering or lag. No AA though so it runs fast and AA only makes a very small difference for me at least because I have to squint at the screen to notice the AA. O_O

Check my sig for my laptop's specs. It's kinda low-mid range but I got it for only 39K Philippine pesos (around $800 US). So yeah, I'm happy with it and that it can even play CnC3 with decent settings.

    @ ssseth

You can surely play on ultra-high settings using that laptop's native resolution.

My friend has a laptop with similar specs. But it's a Z96J. If I remember correctly, these are the specs of his laptop:

    Core 2 Duo T7200 2.00 Ghz / 4 Mb Cache
    2 Gb DDR2 667 Mhz
80 Gb 7200 rpm SATA hard drive
    ATI Radeon X1600 256 Mb
    15.4" WSXGA+ LCD screen

He plays on ultra-high settings at 1440x900 or 1680x1050. Not so sure, but I'm sure it's one of those two. And I also don't know if he turns on AA. But I'm sure his laptop can handle it.

    @ combatman

My laptop is a 2005 model but it's the only model I know that's hybrid. I actually just got it 2 weeks ago. There was this store that had a sale and was trying to get rid of all their "older" laptops. The one I got happened to be one of them. Anyway. I'm still happy I got this one. There's a switch on my laptop that allows me to choose between a Geforce Go 6600 or an Intel GMA900 just before I turn it on. With the 6600 on, it lasts around 2 hours. Using the GMA900 it lasted around 4. Big difference. I'm using a 9-cell battery BTW and I undervolted the CPU.

I'll try running CnC3 later at ultra-high and at 1680x1050. I'll check if my laptop can handle it. I doubt it though. I'm not at home right now. Though at 1280x960 and high settings, it runs smoothly.

i got a couple of questions:
Intel Pentium M 730 1.60 Ghz - 2 Mb Cache, isnt that an old cpu, does it run slow?
    and
could a Hewlett Packard DV6308NR with 15.4-in. HD BrightView Widescreen. AMD Turion 64 X2 dual core TL-50 processor, 1GB DDR2 memory, 120GB hard drive, Dual layer DVD +-RW drive. 802.11b/g Wireless LAN. GeForce G0 6150 graphics. Vista Home Premium (graphics card has 288MB {shared})

The Pentium M 760 isn't really so slow. Unless you like multi-tasking, it won't make much of a difference if you use this one or the newer Core 2 Duos in single threaded apps.

BTW, if you're going dual core, get a Core 2 Duo instead. That HP laptop you suggested is a Turion X2 and they're generally slower than Core 2 Duos. And if you're going to want to play some of the newer games at decent settings, that GeForce Go 6150 won't do. That's actually an intergrated GPU. Get at the very least a laptop with a Mobility Radeon X1450 if you're planning at play games such as CnC3, FEAR, Oblivion at medium settings. Mid-range cards such as the 6600, 7600, X1600 and all those in this range can easily handle the newer games at high settings. If you're a hardcore gamer, you'll get no less than those 17-19" monsters with high-end cards like the 7900 GS, 7950 GTX, etc. They can run all of the current games you throw at them with all graphic settings maxed up.

If your just looking to play C+C 3 and older games there is no reason to buy an expensive laptop. I just purchased a $699 (CAN) Compaq V6317CA laptop and it plays C+C 3 on medium graphics with no problems. The specs on this system are
    Windows Vista Home premium
    AMD Sempron 3500+ 1.8ghz 512k cache
    NVIDa GeFroce Go 6150
    1 gig of ram

If your not looking at getting a full out gaming rig than I wouldn't be looking at anything over $1000. The requirments if C+C3 are extremely low for a new game.
