I just bought the Commandos pack from steam at about a few months ago. The first two game, apart from the sound issues, ran perfectly fine. Commandos 2 and 3, on the other hand, wouldn't even start. Upon opening the two games, both display the usual program "has stopped working" error message. I have tried adding -32bit to the steam launch command, setting the compatibility to win vista/xp, and setting it to run in admin. Needless to say, none of that worked. The laptop I'm trying to make it work on is the Alienware M11x with SU4100 and 335M GPU. Also, both directX and the GPU drivers are up to date. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Check out this post here. Other people having issues:

Compatible with Win 7 64bit? - Steam Users' Forums

However, one guy stated to run each exe in Windows 95 compatibility mode and it worked for him. I always wanted to try this game, but never had the chance. If it's confirmed working I may pick up the commandos pack from Steam as well.

I don't believe Commandos uses a 3D engine, it's all pixels, so you may have to run it in a virtual machine with XP. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, you can get this for free, otherwise you'll need to use Microsoft Virtual PC or VirtualBox with your own XP license.

It also seems like the gog.com version fixes the speed issue and crash issues too. Take a look there as well. Not to say you should buy another version, but it may be your only other option. They also suggest trying to turn your desktop color depth to 16-bit.
