Do not purchase COH off of steam... you may have problems updating the games patches, amongst other problems.

Why not just order/purchase the disc's like everyone else? You don't need a disc to run multiplayer btw :)

Very, good strategy game. The best.

If possible, could you upload some footage of it? Thinking of moving to a smaller laptop with a X4500 and CoH is the only sticking point.

Well I have an ATI RADEON X1250 card in my Toshiba & I run coh @ 1200*800, low very well. No I do not have the time to upload footage of that :p

How about get the Company of Heroes Gold Edition. Both games(original and expansion) all in 1 disc at $30. If you register it, you can play without the disc. Plus, it's already patched up already. So no headaches.

I got it when it first came out, but understand that now it has DRM(first put in with the expansion Opposing Fronts) that is fuxing up people's installs sometimes. The game sells in like 8 variations on Amazon, and a number of them mention the difficulties in installation, including some amazingly bad customer service.

This game rocks, I can play it without the disk (legally) and the sides are balanced very well. The patch was 1.8GB for me to update so I'm thinking of just buying Opposing Fronts to avoid waiting.

Anyone play online? Is it harder than the campaign on expert?

Company of Heros is extremely fun and a refreshing new take on RTS.

I was lucky enough to get a free copy last year. It's one of my favorites.

depends who you play against...when you start off you will play against people that are pretty green and use some funky tactics.......or no tactics.......as you get better you will be put up against better people (in automatch this is)

    Thanks for the reply Jeff,

Going to test out online soon. Is there a deathmatch option online? Sometimes I just want to screw around in single player with infinite munitions and a few Calliope Shermans and don't feel like waiting 20 minutes in if you know what I mean.

Any other games you guys recommend for a dude who loves CoH? (FPS' and others welcome too)

Screw the cromwells, I still dominate AT gun hopping and spamming Riflemen, old school v1.0 . While the BAR has lost A LOT of steam, the AT gun still dominates.

surf, do you go Airborne Commander?

When I go 4v4, I hate coming across 10+ AT guns, my snipers can't even take them out fast enough. What is the most you've built in an online game? :p

In 4v4, I usually go Infantry and I'm on arty duty. Air borne commander is usually my default choice in 1v1s though.

In 4v4, AT gun spamming can deadlock a map. It gets crazy til someone lands a few lucky mortar rounds.

17 lbs suck since two hits from a panzerfaust will destroy it. might as well spend that manpower on more infantry or a stuart. Brits have it tough on the tank side. Churchills and Fireflys get owned by hetzes and panthers.

Does anyone use 88 Flaks online? It seems like Expert Comps are too stupid to seek them out. Snipers and ATs take care of them easy imo. The 88's range is ridiculous though!

What I hate is when I go Infantry, get some howitzers and then start losing points, the population-crunch (11 per arty i think) really kills.

what's ridiculous are the american AT guns. Somehow, they are able to outsnipe my flak 88s and destroy my panthers in 2 hits(not even hitting rear armor). -_-

Hehe, I hate that too. Especially when you're sitting there and your 88 shells are bouncing off or completely missing.

Just found out a few days ago that the Ost can shoot down airborne..wicked. Scared the hell out of me too. Experimenting with the stormtroppers + 2 panzerschreck + cloaking. Results so far are awesome :)

Would love to hear of some weird combos you guys try out~

a few people do.....but one squad of rangers can take out an 88 easy enough or 2 squads of infantry...i guess it really depends on how well they have set up machine guns/supporting units.....

yeah infantry is the back bone of the army :D

weird combos....not too many of those...i like using commando's with picked up bar's or bren's......they become nearly invincible.

if you go pommy use the improved repair on your tanks....i think it gives 1.5 x the health...if you have an american ally with the pershing it becomes a super heavy tank......

unfortunately (or fortunatley) everything has a counter......i have a good game on sturzdorf where the guy playing as the poms did the biggest turtle that i managed to break just with grenadiers (i went PE) took about an hour and a half (500 VP's) was the longest 1v1 game i ever played.

I've gotten owned more than a few times by quad halftracks and AT guns. That and it's impossible to completely kill supporting infantry because the halfs just keep pumping them out. Its at that point that I use the German Walking Stukas to no end.

The only thing I don't like about the game is how freaking loud the nebelwerfers are when you're launching them. Try 6+ firing, it's deafening.
