Is there a SINGLE CUMULATIVE Patch for Company of Heroes / Opposing Fronts that I can download? I have spent over an hour between installing off the DVD and downloading the autopatch from the program. I have no idea what version was installed or what version patch it is installing. It doesn't tell me. This is the third 100MB+ patch I am installing and it is getting quite annoying.

Nope. It'll keep installing patch after patch automatically until you have 2.606, or whatever the latest version is. It is indeed a very annoying patch system.

For a full list of all COH patches, see here:

What I did was I bought Tales of Valor (originally had CoH (discs) and CoH: OF(from steam)) and what steam did was it automatically patches the games itself so I found that really useful.

Great, they don't even host the downloads, just torrents. How crappy is that. Maybe I should download them all just to have them for future use.

I own the DVD copies of CoH and Opposing Fronts. I also own them on Steam. But I am installing the DVD copies on a friend's laptop so we can play multiplayer. If I knew it would take so long I would have just downloaded the torrents to begin with.

Plus the patch process takes forever too.

Be aware that when you launch the game, a program called the Relic Downloader will quietly open without your permission and begin uploading the patch to others using p2p.

Does this apply to the Steam installs as well?

I'm wondering if I do all the patch installs, and backup the directory, then in the future, if I install off the DVD, then just copy the whole CoH directory back and if it would work properly.

I did that with starcraft patches and custom maps back in the day and it worked fine(we all know how many fun maps you lost when reinstalling)

Whoa, once you get to patch 2.4, it asks to use the relic peer-to-peer downloader. I wonder if you can download that before you get to patch 2.4 so you don't have to go through all the other crap.

You can as it is a small separate program. I've read that deleting its directory will kill it off permanently, but I tried it and everything was restored to normal later. If possible, I would just recommend using Windows Firewall to block it.

Given that Steam is just the content delivery program, the answer is yes; the Relic Downloader will show up regardless.
