here is company of heroes, which is on sale for $39.99
    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10076828&catid=

and here is lotr:bfme II, which is regular price $34.99
    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10070585&catid=

so since CoH is on sale for only $5 more than LOTR:BFME II, is it more worth it? which is better? which is more fun?

PS: i realize that i accidentaly wrote LOTF instead of LOTR, i realize that

They are sort of different styled games. BFME2 uses the same engine as Generals, and has the same sort of gameplay, revolving around building an army, stomping the other blokes army, then stomping their base.

CoH on the other hand, is based on DoW. You vie for control of strategic points, and holding these is much more important than destroying the enemy.

You should download the demos for them, and see which style you prefer.

BFME II is cheaper on Amazon.com last time I checked. It's not that new so you should be able to get it much cheaper than $40.

You build armies in both games. It's just that in CoH, it's not *just* about building the biggest army fastest. It's also about *using* that army properly.

BFME is, as far as I know (haven't played it more than a few minutes) a much more traditional RTS, which means it goes along the lines of "build big army, right click on enemy's base to send them there, then see who won"

BFME II is one of those "build a big army fast and right click on the enemy base to see who won" type games. I like CoH's formula MUCH more than that one. I'd go for CoH.

I play both games, they each have their pros and cons.

If you are an LOTR fan, you should play BFME1 and then BFME2.

CoH is a newer RTS that puts some new aspects in the genre.

I do use or make my own NO-CD/DVD fixes, because I have had discs crack on me if I keep taking it in and out of the drive.... poor original Unreal Tournament disc (before the have official no-cd patches came out) :(. and my Doom 3 also cracked from the center out. :(

As long I own the real license and disc, I wont worry. Or rip an image of the disc onto your harddrive and use a virtual drive program (ex. Daemon Tools) to mount the image into a virtual DVD/CD drive.

Depends...I would say go with BFMEII if you want to have a huge army and more strategic based game with CoH.
