I was at Gamestop and I saw they had both COH and SC on sale for $30. Just looking at the boxes I couldn't decide between the two. I haven't played a RTS since Age of Mythology came out because I got tired of micromanaging but I think I ready to give them another try.
Which one will run better with a 128 bit 128mb go7600?
Which one is more fun to play?

I prefer Supreme Commander, the game is brilliant. I do not play it online, I only play it at LAN party's with my friends. 4 in one server, sometimes with one AI added.
It should play great on your notebook, especially because it is a dual core and SupCom runs great on dual core notebooks. You can play it at 1280*800 with medium settings pretty good. -
defenetily company of heroes. it's not that supreme commander is a bad game or anything, it's just that company of heroes is so much better, it's got better graphics, fully destructible maps, and it's more fun to play. not to mention that it will run much better on your rig than SC. SC does feature huge maps and let you command hundreds of units, but it doesn't really capture the feeling of commanding a huge army, and the gameplay is just to slow. so i'd say company of heroes.

COH because it takes a very stout computer to run SUPCOM like its suppose to be run.
-
depends if you want multi player or just single play. single player company of heroes is a great game, it won game of the year in several magazines in the UK last year, but Supreme commander is pretty cool online with mega battles and loads of strategies and tactics

Agree with Tim. I never played CoH before but I really like SupCom. We were playing with 4 friends (2 vs 2) and suddenly we hear: Strategic Launch detected. And we two were all like aaaaaaah... build Strategic Missile Defense but we were too late. Pretty funny

I found supreme commander quite boring
Ive been playing the LordTheRings RTS games and i find those are a more enjoyable RTS game. At leats in LOTR you get to control a hero who can fight and has special powers.
supremem commander is just building groups of diff tanks, airforce etc and moving them. The zooming is the only feature thats cool -

My little brother has the LOTR for 360 but I haven't played it because it looks like it lags and stutters constantly. I forgot to mention that I will mostly playing at work so I won't have internet acess.
It looks like COH will play better on my rig and has the better single player campaign?
Besides those three is there a must own RTS released since Age of Mythology that I have missed out on? -
SupCom is nothing really new gameplay-wise. Huge improvements in interface, but the gameplay is nothing special. Big units are bigger, unit counts have gone up. Nothing in the *gameplay* has actually changed. (That's not necessarily a bad thing though. C&C3 is awesome *because* nothing has changed)
CoH is where the innovation is though, and if you play one RTS this year, it should be CoH (or its older brother DoW) -
I'm with Jalf, I have tried all of the above mentioned and find C&C 3 to be my favorite. Good game, good graphic and just plain fun!
-
I'm gonna vote you get C&C3. But if you must choose only of those two then get CoH.
-
I will also vote for C&C3 - pure brilliance in it's simplicity yet intrinsic depth. It's a blend of the best elements from all of the previous C&C games, with a few nice new touches to round out a really good game.
Of those two, however, I would say CoH. I don't find SupCom to be very fun...the infinite resources and nearly-infinitely-ranged base defenses lend themselves too well to turtling. And I think it's funny how mass fabricators use less power than is provided by an equal-level power generator, which in turn uses less mass than the fabricator produces, violating Mass-Energy conservation - but who needs elementary laws of physics, anyways? -
CoH all the way, love the game, still play it regularly with mates.
It doesn't require as much micro management as earlier RTS games. much better AI.
However i haven't played C&C3 so a bit of a one sided vote -
what about warhammer 40k:dark crusade? really an awsome game, and just as good as company of heroes, if a sci-fi RTS game is what your looking for.
as for C&C3, it's a great choice and a great value for the money, if your new into the series and havn't played any C&C game before, but i warn you, it's nowhere as deep as COH, SC and WH:dark crusade. -
Another vote for CoH, although I supposed im biased with my WWII history obsession and all... Either way you can't deny how fun it is driving a bunch of panthers and tigers around that full destructible scenery. It should run really well on your lappy too considering it looks like this on mine with very good framerates:

I definitely enjoy CoH over SupCom. I was really looking forward to SC since I was obsessed with Total Annihilation back in the day, but SupCom is a little... tedious. It's pretty much the same thing over and over. Build lots of units, go blow up enemy.
I haven't played C&C3 yet though. A few friends have told me it's pretty good, but I got a little turned off by the whole RA2 generation. -

If you're really hardcore into RTS, then get COH. Relic Studios created the video game series of "Dawn of War" and DOW is a hardcore RTS that really needs strategy, skill, and common sense, so if you're into that, get COH.
Not only that, COH has great graphics and gameplay, and the sounds are very realistic.
I've been a fan of the Command And Conquer series, and so far, the Command And Conquer 3 series is a keeper. It's a standard RTS, and does not really require much strategey. If you set the game on maximum difficulty, then EXTREME STRATEGEY IS A MUST. It has much better graphics than Supreme Commander and COH, but you have to admit though, it is the latest RTS game there is atm.
Supreme Commander is also a great game, but it's less strategey wise than COH. It's similar to the standard RTS of Command And Conquer, but, the gameplay is all right.
Conclusion- I recommend Command And Conquer 3 and COH -

I just got COH and I'm not dissapointed. Its running very smoothly and is the best RTS I've played (although I'm still fond of AOE 2). If it wasn't for my exams next week I would playing right now. Thanks for the advice.

Great.. i will try out SupCom when i get my new GPU.. now still waiting for ATI's DX10 and see which solution is the best. But my preimpression of SC (reminds me of starcraft.. where the heck is the sequal) is not tat great, like Total Annihilation, there might be too many units to choose from, which in the end.. we only rush with certain types.. Like Cnc3, game play is fast and awesome...

Check out Spring TA, it's free.
http://spring.clan-sy.com/
It is an updated open source version of Total Annihilation. I have supcom and COH, but I play spring TA the most. If you like RTS games you will really like it. I like the Balanced Annihilation mod the best. -
Looks like CoH just went down to $30 USD today. Time to jump in!
