Is this like comparing apples and oranges? For example, I'm running a EVGA GeForce 6800Ultra 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card. How would a GeForce 7400 compare? Or a 7600? I'm trying to get a reasonable 15.4 laptop and I'd like to compare my current setup with what I can afford.
And, yes, I cut and pasted my vid card info from Newegg.![]()

Its difficult to compare desktops and notebooks. The specifications are so astly different in some cases, that true comparisons are difficult to make. You current desktop graphics card is very powerful, and only some high end notebook cards can do better. A Go 7600, which is quite common in most 15.4" notebooks, will not compete with a desktop GeForce 6800 Ultra. Having said that, the nVidia Go 7600/7700 and ATI Mobility X1600/X1700 can still game very well on notebooks. So long as there is enough RAM, they are able to run games at very playable levels.

You might try looking at these charts for a good idea of where your Desktop GPU sits as compared to any notebook GPU's you're interested in.
I posted this once before and someone mentioned that some of the Core Clock Speeds were incorrect so I make no claims as to its veracity - but I think it's fairly educational. The key column to note in terms of overall performance is in the bottom chart - Fill Rate.
