Do you guys think a game like UT2K4 would be able to help a person figure out how well their computer would do with newer games like Doom 3 and Half Life 2? I'm trying to figure out if my zt3000 will be able to handle the new stuff.

    Thanks

What are the specs of your laptop. Right now the most graphically intense games are Doom III and Farcry. I assume that the new half life game will be intense when it comes out. See if you can run UT2k4 at a high resolution with the game graphics settings turned up as high as they go.

    Here are the relevant specs.

    1.6 PM Dothan
256mb RAM (will upgrade if needed, so far it hasn't been an issue)
    64mb Radeon 9000

It runs unreal smoothly (at least 60 fps) at high settings on either 1024x768 or 1280x1024 stretched, can't remember which one I had it set at. So I'm thinking it should be able to do low-medium settings on the newer games?

You will want to upgrade your RAM. If you have only one of the RAM slots filled with 256mb then you could buy a 512mb stick and install it and have a total of 768mb ram. A 512mb stick can be had for $100 or more. Check out:

Yeah, I want to give it a run first to see how it will do first w/o it, but will upgrade the RAM as soon as i'm sure I need it, thanks for your help.
