brilliant !!! what level do you get them then ? can all races/types use them ?
-
Not anytime soon :/ You get your normal mount (60% land speed) at 40. Your epic land mount (100% land speed) at 60. Your normal flying mount (i think its 60% flying speed) at 70. And then your epic flying mount (i think its like 200% or something flying speed) also at 70, but for a much higher cost in gold.
Any class can use any mount, as far as race goes you'll probably end up getting a discount with your own races mount simply because of the reputation u have built up with ur hometown, but you can still get any mount you want pretty much. -
nice one man, thanks for the info !! look forward to trying some of that out when i get there !!

Speaking of "Epic Flying Mount"...I reminds me of....
Warning: 18+ Content, just an article mentioning how a girl who plays WoW traded "the opportunity to mount her" for 5000 gold to buy herself a epic flying mount.

looks aside, if that girl is willing to trade herself for gold, shes just a WoW *****. O.O
But yeah mounts are cool. -
Hello there, let me give you an opinion from a seasoned WoW addict.
Basically, I have three 70's: a Gnome Mage and a Feral Druid on a PVE server, and shadow priest on a PVP server.
Altogether, I have about 3000 hours /played, yes, this game will devour your life if you let it.
For a new player, I would suggest rolling on a PVP realm, as it adds much more spice to the game.
As far as classes/factions go, I enjoy Horde more than Alliance, but it's pretty much a matter of personal preference.
Hunter is an easy class to play, but it's very difficult to find groups later in the game as it has a reputation for being somewhat of a "retard" class.
On a PVP server you want something that is powerful against other players, with Warlocks being the obvious choice, Shadow Priests, Druids and Roges a close second.
If you hate walking and you like doing damage, check out rolling a mage. You get to do TONS of damage, level quickly, and teleport to different cities and make your own water. You will also be sought after in groups due to your high DPS and utility (portals, very good crowd control with sheeping, etc.)
So, if you are sure you want to get into this "game" (which is more of a hobby than a game, to be honest), perhaps play a few different classes for a few levels and see what playstyle suits you best.
Stay away from healing classes, as healing in endgame is pure stress and is likely to make your hair fall out/turn grey.
Also ask yourself: do I like PVP (=owning other players in the world/battleground/duels) or PVE (instances and raids)?
Do I like to get up close and bash things with a sword? Then go warrior/rogue.
Do I like to hang back and spam fireballs/bullets from a safe distance? Then go mage/hunter.
Do I like to heal other people? Then go druid/priest/paladin.
Do I like to stand up close and tank the monsters while the group burns them down? (Fun job, but big responsibility) Then go druid or warrior.
Or, do I not know what I want and might change my mind later? Then choose a hybrid class like druid (can tank/heal/dps), shaman (can heal or DPS), priest (can DPS and heal) instead of one of the pure classes (rogue/mage for example).
Anyway, whether you take the plunge or not.. good luck. You WILL spend tons of time on this game. You WILL probably get fat and neglect other responsibilities over it.. but you will also have tons of fun and enjoy the experience. It's up to you...
I would choose WoW again.. after 3000 hours (almost 138 days played).
PS: as far as addons go, I've been featured on wowinsider.com in the "User Interface of the Week" section last year. WoW will let you replace almost every user interface element with your own scripts, and lets you customize everything the way you want to. It will take you a long time to figure out what's out there, and whether it works for you and your character, but if you have any questions just give me a shout, I'm happy to help. Here's my UI (on the shadow priest):
I use:
- X-Per Unit Frames
- Satrina Buff Frames
- RicoMiniMap
- Fubar (with various Fu's)
- Skinner
- CoolDownTimers2
- Bartender3 (for toolsbars)
- Quartz (castbar)
... and a million other ones I probably forgot. -
WOW is really as hard to stop with like trying to stop smoking.
I am really impressed of myself that I was managed to take a break with 0 wow-playing for about 2-3 month and that is pretty good then I went back again playing as am still doing now. As someone else said they got around 3000 hours play time total, it's somewhere there I got aswell.
Tho if you got enough extra playtime for wow and like RPG's/MMORPG's this game is really a MUST. I've heard alot that you should play the game Guild Wars instead because it got better graphics aswell as it don't have a monthly fee.
It's wrong, first of all about the graphics, I don't really know what game that got BEST graphics, the thing that makes people think GW really has much better graphic is because it's more mythic stile, like it have happend before like 500-1000 years ago or something, the graphic is more realistic yes, but It don't need to be better, aswell as wow is more demanding in all ways than GW.
And about the monthly fees, Guild wars has no fee, true, but the thing that peoples can't see that plays GW is that they release GW games/expansions all the time. So it might not be as much as the total wow cost but it is close and the Guild Wars game also got a level 20 cap and wow got a level 70 cap, soon 80. Aswell as the wow game is bigger, every character has their own uniqueness that your toons in Guild Wars don't got. Peoples that play GW, sorry, but wow is better. I play GW aswell so you can't say anything about that!
Btw, someone wrote that they thought epic flying was around 200% speed, then I would liek to add that it's 280% more speed in air and 100% when running on land with your flying mounts feets, and you can also get the arena flying mount with 310% more speed that you get when your on top with your arena battle team. There is also a legendary mount that a certain boss can drop if your very lucky, that cool flaming pheonix that also got 310% more speed in air. -
Just saw this thread...
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but your professions for a new char on any server should be a pair of gathering professions. Herbalism, mining and/or skinning. I easily had 300+ gold just from that on one of my characters by the time I was lvl 40.
I was pretty hard core into WoW pre-BC and then when that came out for a while, now I'm sucked in again
In regards to PVP vs. PVE realms... I have to say PVE are much more enjoyable. I've always played PVP up until now, when I started playing horde on a PVE realm (have some friends who are noobs and wouldn't enjoy the PVP realms). PVE is nice because you don't get ganked and camped. It was really lame being camped by 70s when you're level 20. Constantly. For hours.
PVP-RP servers are the worst. Avoid like the plague, especially Alliance side. I've got a 70 human pally on a pvp-rp server... Dunno... Alliance thinks the PVP part is optional! Pansys...
