So should I just not buy this laptop that I have been hopeful for due to the chance that the gpu is defective?

I missed the previous discussions, but T61p has not been confirmed to be affected. However, if you don't plan to buy extended warranty, I would steer clear off any laptop that has nVidia 84M or 86M chips right now.

Ya, it seems like a lot of people have been giving me the wrath for buying a Dell. But I got it for a really good price and have a 2 year warranty on it so I'm really not worried ... if it melts it will be fixed.
