I can't decide what configuration to get on an XPS m1730. Which video cards and processor should I get? Will a 2.5ghz processor with dual 8700mgts be enough to play new games at fairly good resoultions and settings? I don't want to get an extremely expensive video cards that wouldn't help with a slow processor and vice versa. I've heard 2gb of ram is all i will need. Thnx for any help!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I say get one powerful GPU (8800M GTX) and a pretty hefty CPU (something like a T7500 or T9300).

By the way, 2GB of ram is bare minimum for Vista. 3-4 my recommended dosage.. ;)

Soooo....t9300w/ 2.5 cpu will hold up? It kinda stinks because the only way to get the 8800mgtx is to get sli which is $1,000 ALONE!!! Also, only other ram is 4gb. Isn't this kind of overkill?

Yes, and it sucks because you can cheap out on some components and upgrade later (ex: RAM/HDD).

If the price is getting too steep, maybe look at Alienware or Clevo.

    8700M GTs SLI'd < 1 8800M GTX. :/

Nooo!!!! Alright, well thanks for the help. Better safe than sorry, I guess. So the config you suggest is: t9300 (2.5ghz processor), dual 8800 mgtx, and 4gb of ram?

If that's the only configuration you can get, then yes.

If you can lower the amount of RAM, do it. Also, what is the price difference between the T7500 and T9300?

    Can't lower ram. I don't see t7500 on there.
