So I hooked my 32 inch bedroom tv (Sony bravia bx32) to my laptop via hdmi. The tv native resolution according to Sony is 768p. I can however set it to 1080p in windows and games but it makes the picture worse than 768p at least in windows. Why is that?
Would u run it at 768 or 1080p in games?
-
it will show the max resolution supported by the TV which as you said is 768P.
-
But when I set 1080 in windows everything gets smaller and in games I get lower fps so seems like it's working
-
Is it a plasma?

Also when I choose resolution In windows it recommends 768p and 1080p looks really bad. I can't even read text on it when I set it to 1080 -
I doubt that you are running 1080p on a 720p native television, it's probably 1080i. You should always run at the display's native resolution, upscaling or downscaling will always lose a great deal of picture quality. Besides you will get better FPS in games at a lower resolution.
Confused about HD tv resolution
