I just bought a new Asus N81VP-D2 a couple of weeks ago. The N81 was listed to have a HD 4650 GPU. But when I recieved the laptop the sticker actually said HD 4670. I'm using GPU-z to identify the GPU. GPU-z says its a HD 4670, but the clock and memory speed is the same as the HD 4650.
Could the GPU have the wrong bios? Does anyone know why it would say HD 4670, but only have clock speeds as the HD 4650? Or an I not reading something correctly? Thanks
This is what GPU-Z identified.

strange indeed. afaik 4670 is 4650 overclocked. it could be you got 4670 downclocked to 4650.
if thats the case, i'd overclock it to 4670 if i were you -
Yeah I thought it's weird also. I'll probably end up doing that. And then log some temps.

It's an Asus. Underclocked GPUs are the Norm, not the outlier.

IIRC, the 4650 in the Asus N81Vp does have GDDR3 VRAM, but clocked at 4650 speeds. I'm sure it was for the sake of heat and power management. The N81Vp is a tiny machine for such a graphics system. I'm sure some people have been able to manage a decent overclock, possibly up to 4670 speeds with proper ventilation. Either way, it's an excellent laptop, I really wanted one when they first appeared due to it's portability and power-to-size ratio but alas, I'm always wanting some newfangled piece of computer equipment, I have a pretty BIG list.

I'm a little dissapointed that they would downclock the 4670 to the 4650. But thinks for the info.
Confused about the Asus N81VP-D2 GPU.
