Well on my pc i currently own my graphics card is the geforce 8800 GTS. The laptop im considering has a geforce 9800M GTS in it. I was just wondering which one outperforms the other, as i wasn't able to find an accurate benchmark.

    thanks in advance

there is a forum for asking which laptop to get, you could ask there for recommendations.

idk much about cards, but i do know this site.

    http://www.gpureview.com/

they can compare any cards you want, if they have tested them. quite useful. check there if they have those cards. if not, pcworld should

You sure about that? I thought the 9800 M GT was on par with the 8800 GTS (non mobile card).

The difference will be very small and you wont be disappointed with the 9800mGTS. Nobody can give an acurate description as it isn't even out in the public yet.

9800M GTS is better: newer series.

Incorrect. Just because its a newer series does not warrant it better then the previous series. For example a 8800mGTX will beat a 9800mGTS. The 8800 GTS desktop card is about on par with a 9800mGT, but the 9800mGTS wont be a slouch and will def impress you.

    okay
    8800m gtx Equals 9800m gt (literally..direct rebrand)
so these cards are pretty equal to the 8800gts(g92)

So...if you can a 8800gts(g80), 9800m gt will beat it. a 9800m gts will probably be more equal to the 8800gts(g80)

I'm sorry, that was just hilarious.

I would think the 8800 GTS and the 9800M GTS would perform somewhat close, most likely with the desktop card out-performing it by a small margin.

from my understanding, you are saying that the 8800GTX and the 9800gt are equal to the desktop 8800GTS(G92)? thats totally wrong and incorrect, the GTS (G92)will whipe the floor with both of them, they are an Equal to the G80 alright, but no where as the 8800GTS(G92)

I know that but a series 9 GTS is better than a series 8 GTS. I just wanted to keep it simple.

Also, don't forget that benchmark made on a desktop generally have an Extreme CPU, while you don't have that power on the laptop.

In addition, don't forget that NVIDIA released a 8800GTS (112) which is instead better than the old 8800GTS, that got pwn when the 8800GT came out.

ohh.... so the 8800m gtx/9800m gt performs similar to the old 8800gts(g80) and not the newer g92 one? wah?! really? ahhh...... =(
