Not this again.
-
Just...NOOOOOOO
-
Over 8 months clean by the grace of God.
-
I lol'd here
Aww come on its not that bad. Actually they have made it more life managable then it was when it first came out. Plus PVP can be fun.
-
Didnt they make it free 2 play until certain level?
-
preorder Star Wars: The Old Republic instead.
-
If someone pays for my subscription then...maybe.
-
would be nice to get in to beta. Whens the rls date?
-
Have you not seen this?
SW:TOR 29:30 Beta Update‏ - YouTube
It's sad really. They spend 300 Million dollars and out comes a product with cutscenes like this (this is the "fixed" version too, the original version was worse). -
Oh my God, it's so awful
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
wow is ok but I got bored of it after getting one character to 85 (fun seeing the redone zones and the new stuff but after that I quit)
-
Meh got boring after 4 years.
I have 7 lvl 70 characters, one of them who which turn into a Death Knight. RIP my boring Pally
Anyway I sold my account for $500 so I'm done with WOW for good. -
I sold my account in TBC (one moderately geared 70 mage, an entry level geared 70 paladin, and a bunch of crappy alts and gold) for $250. Then I started again like...10 months later with a new account when Wrath came out. When I quit a few months ago, I didn't sell my account. It's still there, I just don't want to play it.

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
This is egregious and sad. You would figure that Lucas Arts would be able to produce something better than that. -
This.
The earlier you pre-order, the earlier you'll get into BETA
Few vids in a thread I started a few days ago:

WoW is decent, but it's not as good as it was in Vanilla/TBC. It's gone downhill since TBC (The Burning Crusade expansion pack). You can play for 1-2 weeks and have nearly the best gear in the game handed to you -- no challenge at all. Back then, it took team-effort, skill and strategic planning in order to get good gear. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
well yeah. I quit partway through burning crusade after playing for a year or two.
then played it again for a couple of months when cataclysm came out.
game got kinda boring. I do miss the server killing raids at south shore and tarren mill -
Seriously messed up when people say they have been "xx days clean from games".
-
I would like a WoW veteran to tell me what they think about Guild Wars 2 or if they will switch? xD I'm not here to promote, even though I think it will be a very good MMO and could possibly be better than WoW.
(If you don't know of GW2 I direct you to this video: Guild Wars 2 - Top 10 Reasons to be Interested‏ - YouTube as it made me really excited for the game and told me about a few things that will make it great!)
Just want to know people's opinions and i'm not up for a GW2 vs WoW debacticle as my friends who play WoW just trashtalked the game when I brought it up and I want to know if this is widespread. Thanks
Oh I used to play WoW, got to level 55 and got tired of it. -
SaveTheKennies Notebook Consultant
My friend just got to me to try WoW, I've gotten to level 45 or 46 I think, Haven't been on in a few days don't find it all too fun mostly just killing time until Guild Wars 2 comes out.
-
I don't have any interest in it. The GW universe has never interested me. I'm sure it will be a very good game, but I won't be playing it.
-
I am a veteran of both as you know I started the GW2 thread, so maybe you want other inputs.
-
wow is a great game but after you play it for 3 years it gets boring (and the fact that no real new pvp content ever came out after tbc is kinda lame)
i shouldve put my sc2 on a different battle.net account. people pay good money to have a bunch of gladiator drakes/achievements lol -
I got bored in two hours... not sure how everyone gets into this drivel for two years!
-
Some people just aren't interested. I got my ex to try it and she killed level 1 wolves for like 3 hours instead of questing and then said she didn't like it.
-
its alot more fun if you started out playing with friends.
-
fixed.
(10 chars) -
Maybe that's my problem. No friends!
-
not rly, i wouldnt arena in wow or sc2 ladder with friends because of they are noobzilla.
but leveling together is fine, tried to do it in rift but that game was just 2 terrible. such a waste of 60dollars -
When you play with people you know it's not about who's the strongest, it's about the experience itself.
E.g. I play Diablo II both by myself (on battle.net with randoms), and with irl friends who are total noobs compared to me. I play separate characters in either instance; I never touch the "coop with friends" characters when I'm playing the game at home, and I don't bring out my high-level decked out characters when with friends unless trying to show off. -
that is true but is experiencing getting killed in 3v3 really that fun? for me i rather play with other gladiators rather than my friends who keyboard turn and click abilities.
-
Yeah the keyword for me is "co-op" when gaming with buddies. If we get randomly put onto opposite teams we might as well be each gaming at home.
-
I've played WoW before under a 1 month trial. I find Runescape more enjoyable than that game. The game is already so developed, that it's almost impossible for a new user to catch up and feel comfortable.
It's just too overwhelming. -
really? i joined wow about 6month after the burning crusade came out, theres alot more user friendly feature now than there was before and leveling is much more enjoyable
-
wow is still fun. Since they changed the trial policy I've been playing it ever since for free very casually, like 30mins-1hr every a couple of days. maybe I'll resubscribe after getting all classes to lvl20 just to see the new content of Catalysm then quite again.
-
lol, you may want to rethink this.
-
While the game may be decent, that cutscene is still absolutely awful.
-
To each his own.
I am a relatively enthusiastic mmorpg fan and when I heard about SWTOR being developed a year ago, I was excited too.
But then I watched the raid trailer that came out of e3 (I think), and it just looked so boring and scripted, hotkey-pressing work.
And the graphics leave much to be desired - for god's sakes it's a 2012 game; every other upcoming mmo is exceedingly more visually impressive.
If you want to see how an mmo with a really good combat system looks like, look up Vindictus, Dragon's Nest, Knight Online, Blade & Soul. Granted those might not have the budget that SWTOR has, and so won't have as much content, but heck each of them looks way more fun and innovative to play. -
So you don't see how it could be thought of as ridiculous bias to base your judgement about a game based on beta cutscene footage from a Beta release being playtested that doesn't even represent the latest build.
Like I said: Good luck with that.
-
Ya Star Wars looks good
So does that mean no one rly at all wants to try WoW? ;p -
Think of it this way. For every game under development, all officially released ingame footage is cherry-picked.
Literally every piece of ingame footage from TOR, officially (e.g. e3 footage or the recent "join the fight" trailer) or recorded from beta-testing, was extremely underwhelming.
Unless Bioware is dumb and is releasing some of SWTOR's worst and least-polished contents to the public (I highly doubt that), comparatively I think my criticism is sound. -
I'm more excited about swtor than I have been about any game in a really long time. I seem to have a lot more information than you do. Doesn't suprise me.
DeeX: I have been leveling a worgen feral druid recently in pvp and having a really good time with it. I just hit 31 the other night. -
Ever since they allowed the pve to pvp transfers, WoW became boring and ruined it for me. Although I kept on playing just to farm rare mounts and legendary thunderfury until i got it.
-
How did that one change ruin the game?
-
Perhaps you just love Star Wars a lot and anything related to the universe geeks you out.
-
Look at it this way before those changes happen.
Player levels on a pve server all the way to max level w/o getting gank, transfer to pvp server pretending and claiming to be a legit pvper w/o experiencing the real fun of pvp server where there is danger anywhere you go and took time and dedication to get there. I'm not talking about being good or skilled or elitist but the hardwork to get there.
For example, You got The Beatles with Lennon/Mccartney who actually wrote their songs and played their instruments and work really hard to reach their goal while guys like Bieber or artist these days where they have their own song writers/lyricist and all they do is sing their songs with the help of internet and youtube etc...
I know it won't matter for casuals but imagine servers like Illidan, Blackrock and Tichondrius pre pve-pvp and now. It is just infested with wannabees and trying hards. -
Superdramatic comparison you have there. I'm sure that the Beatles that are left don't care at all about Justin Bieber. I also don't understand how that RUINED the game.
-
What he means to say is, his elitism was shattered. Poor you, you spent all that time, all that hard work sitting on your butt smashing buttons. Poor you had to avoid annoying gankers, while the others on PVE were able to get their quests done without harrassment. And then they transfered to PvP server to join a good guild where their application was accepted. Now your hardwork sitting on your butt smashing buttons is meaningless...
Get over it, it's a game. No one cares if you suffered through ganking while leveling in a game.
If you're that worried about catching up to someone who has been playing say for 2 years in the latest expansion in just a month, then yeah don't play. It's a game, it's not a race. There isn't some crowd screaming at you, you suck, you're a loser because you don't have the latest gear, latest mounts and not in the best guild. It's a progression. If you don't have the time to learn the game and progress through it like everyone else has, then yes, WoW isn't for you.
I don't play it, but I see no reason for such a complaint as yours. That's what MMOs are about, it's not just WoW. -
Actually not poor me, it was worth it and fun back then and don't regret it one bit. Now I'm not going to stoop down to your level since I'm just giving my opinion in a constructive way and not like the way you are typing right now since it obviously offended and affected you so much but of course you wouldn't admit that I almost guarantee
-
No it didn't ruin the game, obviously the subscribers back in 2006 of 5 million are now up to 11-12 million in 2011 "correct me if i'm wrong". Like I said it won't matter to most people.
Considering playing World of Warcraft?
