Constant Gears of War Crashing!

I don't know what's going on. It just keeps crashing on me all of a sudden. I play for 3 minutes and bam, I'm looking at my desktop. Is there a way to fix this? It's incredably annoying since I can't even advance more than 3 minutes into the game now. This game is great, but it's been giving me so many damn problems I'm questioning if it's even worth playing anymore.

 

update the drivers and check temps

 

i'm using 169.04, which i hear is the most stable one. and the temps are fine since i'm not overclocking, and can play CoD4 for hours on end fine.

 

what error does it give u?

Welcome to Gears of PC: A game mired by unexpected game crashes, missing and deleted saved game files, and a slew of other bugs I care not to mention.

 

doesnt give me an error, just goes to my desktop and says the game stopped working. And I expected some crashing, and my saved files go missing all the time, but come back with a restart. Not to mention screen tearing and stuttering haha. But I never figured it would get to the point where it's unplayable.

 

if you get the C++ visual error, GG for you.

no fix for that and you have to skip to another chapter of the game in order to continue

 

well arquis ur lucky coz u can still play the game...i cant even go pass main menu.... m also encountering same thing

Did you try downloading a patch? You can find one at www.ign.com in the PC section. Go to downloads, and then patches. You might need to register with IGN for this, but it's free. Both my friend and I had GOW. His crashed but he never got the patch, while I on the other hand did get the patch, and only had minor problems. Sometimes it would freeze on the loading screen, but besides that the game ran just fine.

 

A patch + a new driver always fixes things.
GOW crashed a lot for me before the patch also...

 

Hi I had the same problem when I got the game a few months ago, the game would load up to the start menu as normal and log onto gfwl and few seconds later put me back to the desktop. Luckily I found the problem was gfwl does not auto update that well go to this link ( http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Support/live/Pages/default.aspx) and download the latest patch for it the game should work also update gears of war manually from ( http://gearsofwar.filefront.com/file/Gears_of_War_Patch_1_Revised;87401).
EDIT: If that gfwl update does not work try this one ( http://www.digwin.com/games-for-windows-live-redistributable-12) as its the one installed on my laptop atm.
