Hi all,(1st post in gaming section)

I seem to have lost my Nvidia Control Panel Tab/links and i cant find a simple solution to replace it.

I have been changing drivers a few times lately without being aware the Control panel options have gone awol, was a while ago i last used it to set up an external display but now i was wanting it to be able to add on the nvidia system tools software for a bit of gpu adjusting.

Im not sure where ive gone wrong,I thought that the NCP was part of a driver install but i cant seem to get it back from reinstall.

I use my laptop for games mainly and after advice i installed CCleaner to help keep it tidy and noticed that under start up progs i had RUNDLL32.exe C\windows\system32\NVCpl.dll,NvStrartup disabled so i enabled it but as soon as i reach my desktop from boot up comes an info box that says (error loading C:Windows\system32\NVCpl.dll) The specified module could not be found.

Im on the new 195.62 and will go back to 186.81 when its back so i can monitor and adjust gpu(i dont want to use anything else as yet)

Can anyone offer an easy solution for a casual alterator so to speak,

    Cheers

I had this issue when I installed a certain set of drivers (fresh install), I believe they were 186.xx

Installed my 177.79s over the top and it appeared, haven't tried updating again.

Perhaps try uninstalling the drivers, using a driver-cleaning program (I don't use them, so you'll have to search), then reinstalling your drivers.

*EDIT* If you want to monitor temps and adjust clocks etc, if you do ever feel like using something else, give RivaTuner a shot. Fantastic program.

    Thanks for your reply Dragunov,

I went to uninstall my existing 195.62 and rebooted however i couldnt seem to get into safe mode with F8 to scrub away any left over files with drive sweeper so i rebooted again still without any luck with F8,but when i came to me log in screen resolution was back to normal and 195.62 were back installed but this time with nvidia control panel back in place????

i vaguely remember when originally trying to update driver the nvidia splash screen just hanged there for ages with the progress bar frozen around halfway, perhaps it got confused!

So now ive got it back ive installed the system tools from nvidia and will be trying to understand clocks,i see you share much the same card as me,perhaps my system may accept the level of changes you have done within you sig details.

Is this system tools just a monitor?? will i indeed need riva for making actual changes??

    Thanks again

    hi motlee
186.81 have been the best so far in a long time.

if the nvidia control panel is now back i wont have to go into sorting that but heres a step by step just in case you doing something wrong.
also handy for any other new members.

Here's a step by step guide on the best way of updating the drivers:

you can get all the temps. monitoring software from HERE

Personally, I don't find the NVidia Control panel useful for overclocking at all, and use RivaTuner

To overclock, you'll need rivatuner and drivers with a modified .inf (you can get them from laptopvideo2go.com). You might also want to grab ATITool, which will tell you whether your overclock is stable.

186.81 drivers can be found here, and I'll try and hunt down a modded .inf for you.
*EDIT* Modded inf can be found HERE

Although we have the same card, the level of overclocking that can be done stably depends on each individual card, and conditions (ie ambient temperature, whether you use a notebook cooler, etc etc).

If you're having trouble working out RivaTuner (read the tutorials first), PM me and I'll try and help you out.
