Thanks for the notification! This is a game I've really wanted to play!
It's great to not have any brand loyalty. I dislike Epic Games for timed exclusives, but free games are free games. If one day their store becomes as good as Steam, I won't care about the EGS vs Steam debate anymore. All I care about is being able to play my games forever after buying them.Last edited: Jun 11, 2021hfm, Vasudev, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
I know this is not going to be popular but what you are doing is supporting just that. As they keep growing their customer base with these older free games, people will start forgetting about those timed exclusives which are essentially forcing you to buy from them.
They can keep their "free" games, I'm sorry but I just won't bite. If I like a game, I prefer to buy it and support the devs, not like this. -
I haven't bought anything on their store and I don't plan to. Steam is definitely my platform of choice.
Like I said, free games are free games. That doesn't mean we have to buy anything from them.
In fact, I will buy Control on Steam if I like it enough. I'd much rather have all my games consolidated into one library.Normimb, Vasudev, cucubits and 1 other person like this. -

By merely having an EGS account, you have already more than paid for any game they could ever "give" away.cucubits likes this. -

Playing without RT I get smooth frame rate, enabling RT it's like playing a slideshow on my GTX 1080 , lol

You gotta love high refresh rate panels. Everything looks better at 120+ fps.
RT is kinda silly at this point in time because all it does is make games lag while offering little visual improvement. Traditional rasterization can give you the vast majority of the effects you need at a fraction of the performance cost.Vistar Shook likes this. -

Plus with the hundreds of breaches the last year or two, some personal data is very likely out in the wild already. -
Epic Games ain't much different than other companies. All is into scummy/disgusting things (leaks/harvesting of privacy is only one of many). You are stupid if you think the different companies is there only for you. They all is disgusting.
You are just a small piece/man useful in the big machinery, but no one cares about you. Getting a few games for free isn't the worsty that can happen. Epic Games is maybe bad but Facepalm is much worse.Last edited: Jun 12, 2021Clamibot and Vistar Shook like this. -

I didn't even consider this personal data thing... yeah, I'm pretty sure they have all my info already even if I never made an account, if they're really into data collecting and selling.
My issue is that they don't play fair. I had a few games I really wanted to play at release but they were 1 year timed epic exclusives. Some even set to be released on Steam then just ending up getting pulled. No, I don't want to buy my games at a specific place just because that place wants me to.
Imagine someone telling you that you must start buying your food from a store you hate, in a crappy neighborhood, all the way across town, just because that store "bribed" the farmers. I know, stupid analogy but it sort of makes sense...
No matter how many free games they throw at us, I won't cave. Likely there's not many like me but I'm not into forgiving them and start supporting them with this sort of business model.
...I also hate fortnite with a passion.Clamibot and Vistar Shook like this. -
Indeed. I remember before experiencing 100+ Hz panels I thought that you didn't need more than 60 Hz. Now everytime I see a 60 Hz panel it feels really blurry in games and even while using Windows the navigation isn't as smooth as with 100+Hz. I'd rather take high frame rates over RT all day. Even on RTX 3090/3080 RT cuts the frame rate at half which is ridiculous. I think the only decent way to enable RT is with DLSS combined to boost the frame rate. I'd even take 1080p@144Hz over 4k@60Hz for better gaming experience.Clamibot likes this.

Overcooked 2 has a 90% rating on Steam with 21K reviews.. not bad..
-
I plan on it! It can't have that good of a rating without being universally liked usually.
