I saw this in HIDevolution customization option so I ordered Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra and IC Diamond...I was wondering if I can do the application for my MSI GT80 as Coollaboratory Liquid for the 6820HK and IC Diamond on both the 980m's?

I don't see why not :D I am running CLU on my CPU and Noctua on my GPU and I am pretty happy with the temps.

But you really need to take care when applying liquid metal. There is a thread in Alienware subsection under new AW machines section.

    Check it out.

Already dismantled...haha, just needed for a proper application...is my first time using 2 different paste on this machine.

Also should leave the electrical tape there after repasting?

Also I currently don't have that 33+ tape....I have some random black electrical tape right now tho...it says it can withstand up to 80C.

    http://www.magnaprime.com.ph/contact/17-products/max-tapes/8-max-electrical-tape/

Not sure if I use this since it it can stand up to 80C only...

    EDIT:

I guess I'll just leave everything open for now and going to get a good tape in the morning...

Try a tape that can withstand upto 100-105C similar to scotch super 33.

Haha...you're right man...I can't leave this cheapo tape the chance to potentially jeopardize this whole operation xD

I will get a good electrical tape in the morning...I wasn't aware that CLU application requires tape. :/

If the tape is rated for 80C it may melt if your machine overheats for any reason. Also, the tape does stay after the application.

    I bought this today:

Same brand in the guide...but if you take a closer look the instructions at the back it says not more than 80C....does this mean I bought a fake tape?

105C is correct. Is there print/writing inside of the circle of the tape? (on the cardboard inner area.)

I use traditional paste by Cooler Master Gel Nano, I spreading it with spatula. FOR ICD, you can try spread the paste or simply put a big pea and just use heat sink to spread it.

I noticed this too after I purchased it. However, I've used this more than once and had temps higher than 80 degrees and it's 100% fine.

I tried repasting first with ICD...not so good result so I cleaned it and re-pasted with CLU and see which gives me the best results...tbh not much of temp reduction and I already exhausted CLU.

Stock paste: 55C on idle, 85 on max
ICD: 60C on idle, 90 on max
CLU: 52C on idle, 80 on max

I've followed the liquid metal guide to the letter...not sure what I've done wrong.

Move to Norway to @Papusan house. He has a secret lab for testing CPU/GPU temp. limits. Just kidding. Did you see his idle CPU temps are under 20C, so that means his PC can be OC'ed muvh higher w/o throttling.

Clevo just got a better cooling solution...ok nice. I was kind of hoping that I will have the same temp. as in the guide...Alienware units seems to have a problematic heatsink but still manage to reach down to 30-40C.

Then its great temps. Mine too hits 92C on stock fan from AW. No need to worry. Your PC temps will be <85C peak usage.
Also, every rise in 1C of room temp will increase cpu temps by 2-5C.

All to low for 41x. Put max performance in Windows power plan. Not use balanced or other crippled homemade power settings. Below from my older 6700K. Lower 40x clocks but still higher Cinebench R15 score.

He meant you can turn off lot of services like BITS, WU to manual. Also disable NVidia telemetry and connected user experience & telemetry services in services.msc
Close web browser, manually stop XTU service and set to manual startup since it interferes with TS.

That needs to be done when slipstreaming Windows with updates. I meant using Winaero Tweaker or O & O Shutup 10 to disable telemetry.

I used my own experience of tweaking windows. It has still bloatware intact but doesn't run most of the time. In winaero tweaker go to behaviour > Ads > Disable everything if you don't use Windows Spotlight.
    Some guide I suppose: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3152...ize-your-windows-pc-with-winaero-tweaker.html
I added Power schemes to context menu, new share page, increased taskbar transparency and increased title window. and lot more. Winaero Tweaker doesn't backup those settings to ini file.
