    hi,
I'm confused about the core, shader, and memory speeds that RivaTuner is giving me for my Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS. I just got it about a month ago, and the speeds are way lower than I'm seeing other people post them as (see screenshot). Can I safely overclock this to what other people are considering normal speeds for this card?

Your video card is downclocking to save power and produce less heat. It won't run at full clocks unless it is necessary. Right now my 9600M-GT is running at even lower than that, 169MHz core: 100 shader: 100 memory. Once you start a game, the speed will jump back up.

Use the hardware monitoring function of RivaTuner and just alt-tab out of your game to look at it.

when overclocking with riva tuner do you need to reboot after every change in order for the change to take place?
