    Could this be possible?

If they could put a graphics card on the CPU? like lets take a 3 core CPU, would it be possible to make One of the cores specificly for graphics? or is that not possible because the chipset would not allow it or somthing? The graphics card does not need to be powerful or anything like that it just needs to give the GPU a little boost in performance

That doesn't work. A CPU core works differently than a GPU. The CPU will automatically feed the GPU necessary information without devoting an entire core.

Now if that 3rd core is specifically designed to work as a GPU or in sync with a GPU, that is entirely possible. Look to what AMD is doing in 2009 with their FUSION scheme to see an example.

So that opens up the possibility for upgradeable graphics right?

Yes ther are already in the works. AMD's fusion as well as intel. They want to enter the market with a gpu solution that would be be a decent boost up from integrated gpus.

This is 100% possible even on regular cpu's but the gain you would receive would be about 0-3 fps depending the application and your cpu. Doing this would also tie up your FSB and cpu bandwidth which, if your FSB was already what was slowing you down, could even make you lose FPS.

The simple version is it can be done but it is not worth it.

But I would be thinking they would need new sockets which means you
    A) get a new motherboard
    B) get a new laptop

desktops, are easy, so I guess they can do that.

but do not give them notebooks to work on, they usually know squat about them.
