This game looks absolutely amazing. The long short of it is America has been invaded by an Asian force through an EMP attack. You must defend and push them back.

I have been waiting for this game for soooo long. Check out some of the gameplay videos. The countdown is on. 30 days left... Until the Homefront Invasion!

Optimizations --- Game seems GPU have and CPU lite. On my I7 it uses less than 60 percent of 2 threads of CPU and less than 10 percent of two more. (I have thread parking disabled). GPU is pegged at 100 percent the whole time.

    1. Disable DOF
    2. Disable Ambient Occlusion
    3. Set Render Frames Ahead to 0 within Nvidia Control Panel or set Flip Queue 0 in ATI CCC
    4. You can set DX9 manually in the game config file (C:\Users\admin\Documents\My Games\HOMEFRONT\GCGame\Config\GCengine) Search for D3D and change from TRUE to FALSE.
    5. Add this switch to your start-up properties in STEAM to see if this helps. "-compatscale=4" ( do not include quotes)

the story looks great and looks like it will play well (ill will be borrowing my friends steam account to play it)... but from the videos on youtube and the trailers, the mutliplayer seems like a ripoff of the BF games with some COD mixed in......BF3!!

According to this article, there will be DX11 Homefront Interview: PC Gamers Won’t Be Left Behind | GameZone.com

I can't decide if I want to buy it - I've been adding and removing it from my D2D cart for the past week! I have no interest in sp and the mp walkthroughs I've seen lead me to believe it'll lean toward CoD type gameplay with what I saw of their Perks feature. The mechanics of the AI Battle Commander and Battle Points to buy things a player needs during the battle make it a little intriguing so I haven't dismissed purchasing it.

Wow now that's what I wanted to read.(hear)

Hmmm I am pondering on what to buy this March. I think this may be it. Only thing that's keeping me from getting it is the price.

I dont know how much THQ are at our country unlike EA and valve. The main reason I buy mostly EA PC games is because of that.

    I forgot

    Homefront also has LAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope its a decent game - after the calamity that was black ops, I've lost all hope in the PC gaming industry except for valve, blizzard, dice...

Hopefully I can manipulate settings to hold a steady 60 fps unlike black ops that goes all over the place like a toddler learning to be toilet trained!

Im really skeptical of this game, because this is from the same developers that made Front Lines Fuel of War. And that game was beyond buggy.

@Instant - I thought the author confirmed the previous title called "Front Lines, Fuel of war" was full of bugs. And I would agree with that statement as it gave me lots of hassle in 2007.

So lets hope this NEW title is not.

    Best Wishes,

Guys, let's try to keep political comments and discussion out of this thread.
I understand that the game plot is a political one so obviously there is some leeway with this, just don't abuse it. There is a difference between discussing the game's plot and making political statements. Thanks.

My comment wasn't directed at you, Shadowfate. It seems I may have accidentally deleted your previous post along with the offending posts. My apologies.

As I said, discussing the plot is ok, but discussing the politics of it is not ok. It's a fine line, but I'm willing to be a little lenient about it.

A new game is always fun the first few hours. It's after that, that you can really tell whether a game is actually good or not.

Cheesy story, terrible graphic for 2011, awful player and gun models, codlike gameplay

Whatever marketing firm this company hired spammed Homefront all over E3 2010. Outside the convention center they outfitted a parking lot like a North Korean military base with people dressed up as soldiers. The parking was free; they put North Korean flags on all the cars, which was funny.

As far as the game goes - their E3 demo was not impressive from any particular angle. I'll reserve judgment until the reviews.

just pre-ordered it myself, excited to play it... I think I was one of the few that really enjoyed Frontlines, so extra excited about this one.... it did also come with a free copy of Metro 2033. Release counter for me says 6 hours, which is midnight tonight on the east coast... we shall see if it's released then though.

I read THQ had a pre order event in San Francisco with Gamestop, where they launched a bunch of balloons that eventually ended up in the bay - really pissed off a lot of environmental conscious folks there. Gametop ended up saying it was all THQ's idea.

As for the game, I'm gonna wait for gameplay and bug reports for multiplayer before I buy. I just need a "waiting for BF3" military shooter.

Doesn't surprise me, the game looks like a COD clone with a new environment and a few Battlefield elements thrown in.

The story might be original, but the gameplay surely isn't.

Just played through Chapter 1, and actually think it's a fun game! Graphics aren't groundbreaking but are really good, and the setting is really cool... I'm enjoying the story/experience so far... kind of nice to be fighting at home with a story to back it up.

Controls are just fine, gunplay feels great... has actual options for the PC instead of just the standard console port crap... I'm liking it!

7 isn't bad. 7 is in the good range. 5 would be average. 3 is bad.

And if you've ever seen red dawn then this is basically it in a video game. Red dawn, apocalypse now, and Homefront all have the same writer.

I watched some streaming mp gameplay and I think the similarities to CoD are limited to graphics and the way weapons handle. Homefront doesn't go overboard with perks, and while it does have unlockable weapon camos, the sillier looking ones are beyond level 50. So far there hasn't been a problem with nade spamming either, even with the perk that gives extra grenades. Also, the only use of killstreaks I've seen is to unlock some weapon camos and mark people as priority targets with battle points bounty if playing with the Battle Commander enabled.

The main concern for Homefront is going to be longevity. I only saw 2 game modes (Ground Control and TDM) with the option of enabling the Battle Commander, and only on 6 maps. There's also not much in the way of weapons even if drones are counted (2 sniper rifles, 2 LMGs, 3 SMGs, and 6 ARs). I know some of us are only considering this as a game to tide us over until BF3, but I don't see myself playing this past a month.

I think what makes or breaks the game will be how people receive the battle points system. It allows players to save up for things like drones, vehicles, and abilities. It's still a bit flawed since skilled players will be able to get the better stuff faster and the winning team could end up spamming Apaches, but unlike killstreaks, even less skilled players can save up their battle points to buy something and contribute. A little balance I noticed was that players seem to only select 2 things used for battle points per class and have to stick to them until the intermission between rounds when you can change class loadouts.

    Couple other things I noticed:
    - A command wheel used for spotting and giving orders
    - The respawn animation is annoying where the camera swings from the sky like a pendulum toward the ground and drops the player.

The game is great. I haven't even touched SP yet because I am playing MP and can't stop. Yes it has some cheese and cheaters already along with wallhackers (or whatever the term of the week is for them).

But.. so far.. so good.. DX9 looks horrible so be sure to roll with DX11 if you can.

I will post some optimizations on the first post to help performance.
