I'm sure lots of you still play old games on your laptops. The early part of this decade and the later part of the 90's gave us some great pc games that we still continue to play.

For me, it's counter strike (now 1.6). This game seems great for laptop gamers at this point in time. It' by far the most played game in the world for one. And two, system requirements are not nearly as demanding as current eye candy games such as doom 3. You can jump into a match of counter strike 1.6 in a matter of minutes with a 5400 rpm hd, decient processor and graphics. Which is budget laptop grade configs now adays.

Don't let the fact that the system requirements are so low fool you. THAT IS NOT THE REASON THE GAME IS STILL SO POPULAR TO THIS DAY. True, it's easier to get going because the system requirements are SO low. But I'll tell you strait away that the game is never going to get old. And I'll tell you right now, that source is not going to take the tourch and run with it. Simple reason? Don't fix what's not broken.

The graphics and physics in source are great, but the netcode they implemented does way too much thinking back and forth between server and client, making a much more inaccurate game. It's not something they intend to fix either, as it seems they believe in the idea that making something more "smooth" and "fluid" is paramount to gameplay. You'll find many instances where players run around eachother for a couple seconds shooting at eachother before someone actually die's. Non source players no this right away as a flaw. In 1.6 within milisecs, someone dies.

If you ask anyone that plays professionaly, or is just an avid counter strike gamer, the old cs code, as "crude" as it is in valves eyes, produces much more solid gameplay, making it much more fun and skillfull to play.

So, I'd like to now extend an invitation to anyone with a budget laptop and up. If you like fps, and you like competition, get into the biggest gameing community in the world right now. If I've interested you at all, it costs anywhere from 10 to 20 dollars to pick the game up. Try it out, you can thank me later for finding you this barried treasure.

ps: if you have half life 1 already, just mod it, you get it for free ;p

i will agree that the CS series is one of the best in the FPS genre, but i like source better. i dont care about the graphics being better, as much as the people. i dont care for the l337 5P3/-\|<!NG n00b, ph33r m3! ! ownz joo!../end leet speak..i left that boat when i turned 15..now its just annoying. otherwise, i think the physics is awesome in CSS, and it adds to the realism.

lol. l33t speak caries over to new gen soon. I'm sure as source grows older, it will aquire the same l33tness.

Besides, the people that play 1.6 are just vetrens, that's all. Noobs have a harder time getting in, but are rewarded with much deeper gameplay once they understand the game, and get a lot more respect after they learn how to be l33t, lol.

ps: i don't hate source, i just don't think it's up to standerds yet in terms of gameplay.

dont get me wrong, 1.6 is great (ive been playing ..probably since the game came out..on and off though), but i think source is "better" for me ...sounds wierd..but when i go back to 1.6 it doesnt seem to draw me to it..i am constantly in the top 5 in 10v10, and prefer source overall.
