Would I be able to play CS:S at that resolution with my specs? (see sig)

Do you have a Source game installed on your computer? Set the resolution to 1680x1050 in the options and find out. I'd say you will have to lower the settings a bit to get the game to be playable. I can run Source games at 1680x1050 fine on my X700 256MB at maximum minus AA, but my card is quite a bit more powerful than yours.

wow thank you for having me try this, i have been playing on a lower setting for some reason, I seem to be able to play this with 5 total bots in the game (6 total players including me) with decent fps above 30. This was with msn msger, yahoo msger, firefox, zone alarm, and a couple other things running. I'll let you know how well it runs with 2gb of ram when i get it (this week)

The Valve games are very good on x1400/7400 Go as long as you keep anti aliasing off. Otherwise you can pretty much crank the details up, I think even at that resolution.

The problem is, Since i do not have that monitor yet, my max res is 1280X800. So with what madrocinide said, i am hoping for the best. And currently Im running the game at high graphics, AA X8 AF X16. And my fps are low 24, high 300. soo......

this is odd, i just did a clean reboot, turned OFF everything, had only like 35 processes running. And I went to go play CSS and my fps were really crappy like..15-20...Maybe it differs from map to map? Anyways I lowered it from the max resolution to the a couple ones smaller and it seems like its running 35+ again. Hmm this bums me out. I have AA off also.

Being a CS:S and CS player for many years, I dont think you need a fairly high end system to run CS:S. Given the origional poster's specs, I think he should be able to run it fairly well. AA just smooths things out, and to be honest playing CS:S with AA on and AA off, in my opinion, doesn't really change much. Another thing that may be the reason for the variances in everybody's experiences here are their drivers as well (Catalyst 7.1 vs 7.2 vs 7.3 vs 7.4.. etc etc).

Some maps have HDR lighting (dust, train, etc) so that causes lower framerates.
