Every 20 minutes or so my FPS seems to drop from between 80 and 120 down to between 15 and 25. Does anyone know why this is? It only started happening about 1 week ago, before that everything was fine...

You might be overheating a little bit. Sometimes the card will under perform when it gets too hot.

    Probebly overheating...

How long have you had your laptop? You might want to clean the fans and the heatsink, or reapply the thermal grease with Artic Silver 5 if it has been a long time.

It could be the drivers as well, did you upgrade within the past week? Does the FPS drop randomly when you are standing still doing nothing, or when you look around or see through a smoke grenade?

I am sure dells website has a walkthrough on taking your xps apart and cleaning it, if not you can just call up tech support and ask them for some help on how to clean it out. GL with your defrag.

if none of the above remedies work....use some emulating software i.e. 3D-Analyzer

use a compressed air canister and blow air into the fans or the the vents. It's the most simple way but it's not the most thorough.
is your computer's fan running on high when this drop in fps happens? also, deos the fps count go back up after a little while while you are still playing? final question: is this drop in fps ponctual? i.e. does it happen on a fixed time schedule ( which would probably mean another program is interfering).

Can you monitor your temps using rivatuner? The graphs will explain it all

It seems to be thermal downclocking which takes 20minutes to reach at that temperature

Also one more thing. This only seems to happen with Counter Strike Source..why do all my other games run fine but this one?

Update-Now the FPS drop is permanent....ive lowered all my settings and everything which now gets me 30-40 FPS. Its ridiculous though! Ive gone from max settings to medium settings...
