    I tried google but got answers that I found did not help. My first question is there any servers that don't have any custom stuff? I'm sick of custom maps and weapons. Is there a server that has normal counter strike? Also every time I join a game it has to download the map is this because it has custom stuff in it? thanks!

    You can't find a server that does not have custom material? That can't be true... there has to be normal servers.

    Just sort the games by "Maps". That should solve a lot of your problems.

    Don't get me wrong, I enjoy 1.6 and CZ, but he only has CS:S, so we need to make suggestions relevant to the subject. ;)

    Yeah, I know :). What you said should save him some headache though.

    Like KGann said, look for the common maps: de_dust, de_nuke, etc. Those will most likely be normal servers.

    i was in that same situation too when i was at college.. its like depending on which ISP provider you have.. you have alot of different servers listed.

    Just play on my favorite server, hosted by the Adult Swim Clan. Add the server using the button in the favorite server tab of the server browser.

    They only rotate between two VERY standard maps, Dust2 and Office. Those are probably the most official maps of CSS at this point, they've been around for YEARS.

    Also, expect to download a LITTLE bit with most servers, what you are loading is the server's admin plugin, not new content or gametypes. The admin plugin allows stats to be calculated and certain functions to be used. I have never seen a CSS server that didn't have at least a rudimentary admin plugin that you had to download.

    Eventually you will run into a map that requires no download. Of course you have to join servers witht he original maps such as de_dust, de_dust2. cs_italy, cs_assualt,cs_office.

    also, once you download a map, you don't have to download it again. Unless you delete it of course :p

    You may eventually play the custom contains, just not now of course. A pure non-custom server only have so many maps, it is easy to get bored, and custom maps are more fun.

    I know because I played 1.6 non-custom server for a year, and sometime I wish my favor server would have some custom maps in the map rotation. It is always Italy, office, dust1,dust2, assault, dust1, dust2, dust1, and we get lucky there is militia once in a while.

    Hey OP, try looking for WebKiller Servers, also knowns as the WK server.

    These servers are the most popular servers on counter strike.
