Hello, i was wondering if their is any tweaks or drivers i could use to get more fps? I have all the settings set to low and removed all the extra stuff ingame with a fps config but i can't seem to get it to run at 100 fps, which i need it to run it to play correct. I play competitive and somewhat a semi pro at the game. I can't get on my computer since some of my ceiling fell down today and the smell is making me sick, I'm waiting for the landlord to repair it. I would like to play on my laptop till i can get back on my computer.

How about an FPS config?
-
You could overclock your GPU and/or play with a lower resolution to gain some fps
-
100 FPS is placebo.
-
no high fps is a must in css.
-
Isn't that with all shooting games? -
60fps is the max your lcd can display.
-
if you are not botherd about eye candy you can force Direct x level to 8 or 7
this will giv you a big boost in FPS but i dont see why you need more than 60

i owned pubs in CCS when i played on average 20 FPS
-
I've just brought CSS over amazon and will be getting it soonish.
I am hopeful that it will run well at 1280x800.
And tbh if your fps doesnt go any lower than 40 then its all gravy. -
you should be able to run it near full settings at that res
-
is there a tournament restriction on frame rate, or are you just being picky?
solid 60 fps is perfectly fine. just make sure whatever you're doing is steady. -
I already use a FPS Config to remove everything extra and play at the lowest res, my game looks like super nintendo
With my fps jumping between 40 and 100 my mouse sense feels like its also changing, when i sit in smoke or get flashed it drops down alot. I'm blind alot longer then i would be on my desktop also.
Dx level 81 is the lowest they allow
Forgot to put my specs when i made the thread, updated it -
the human eye can only register 30 fps or lower. This varies from person to person but I would go out on a limb and say someone watching a screen at 60 fps is only registering 30 fps or lower. No way your brain can tell a difference between 60 fps and 100 fps. I agree with the placebo comment.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
honestly if you are that nuts about your framerate, then you are automatically screwed because of your low resolution. you can only aim as specifically as there are pixels for your crosshairs to exist in.
if you are 800x600, and someone else is 1600x1200, they can detect you further away, faster, and aim at your head twice as accurately up down AND left right. -
that is very wrong, people can see well above 60fps. if you are playing css and you are only getting 60fps against people with 100+fps they have a big advantage over you.
-
lolwut? you must be blind
They can see alittle more but they won't see you any faster then you would see them. In css seeing alittle more doesn't help much at all. -
only cry baby's need more than stable 30 FPS in FPS games. I kick just as much when i play on my laptop and when i playon my desktop even though on my laptop i get average 50 FPS and my desktop 100 or whatever
-
Satyrion, I highly doubt your notebook gets 50FPS in CS:S, unless you're running it on all low, 640x480.
-
I play competitively, why would i want everyone else to have a advantage? Why post if you aren't trying to help? I bet your terrible at the game anyways
-
people can flicker stuff at 1/220 of a second, so it's safe to say people can see over 200 fps.
-
This is true, however, the key word is REGISTER. It was explained to me that while the eye/brain will see more then 30fps the extra frames will be a blur. the brain actually won't define the image. this is why you get the appearance of looking "Smoother" because the blurred frames mix with the defined frames. I don't see how the extra blurred frames are going to help in CS:S. Since aiming is only going to be based off what you can see definitivley. So I guess cosmetically you would be able to notice a difference but not productivley.
couple of other notes:
An NTSC (American) movie that you watch is only 30 fps
A PAL (Europe) movie is only 25 fps
also, Don't all consumer monitors max at 72 hertz? that would mean the monitor can only refresh at 72 cycles (fps)? -
Not sure if that is true or not but it doesn't really matter CSS is a fast fps compared to most. In CSS aiming and shooting is mostly about reaction. The game is not smooth at all with 30fps, it looks like its in slow motion.
-
CS:S does not feel smooth at all at less than 50 - 60fps. 30fps is near god- unplayable for CS:S.
Anyway I have a feeling it's more of a CPU bottleneck than a GPU bottleneck for your system. One way to confirm this: Run the 'Video Stress Test' at the main menu and post your results for average fps. -
Alright, will do soon and post the results
-
it has nothing to do with "smoothness" or flicker, it has to do with the fact that your shot register is better, because like your high frames-per-second, your shooting will be more "on" target with more frames pumping out there. think of it almost as this: You want your frames to be as fast or at a high-of rate as you want your weapon to fire, and in all cases, you want your frames to be as close to those high fire-rates as you can. It will improve among many thing "hit registration" and if you can get over 300 fps in CS:S constant then your guys will actually firer faster than those with lower frames, thus giving those with higher frames an edge in purely the amount of ammo in one particular spread of a shot. Now this doesnt have as much effect in a pub server that has less than 100tick, but it does to professionals and sem-professionals that play in very competitive matches, where one or two bullets can change to 2 kills or a death.

Well i rock at the game and K-Gann i get avrage 50 FPS on CCS with 1024x768 on my laptop with my custom FPS config. At maps like aztec i can reach over 80 FPS at times
This is with 16 bots on the map.
