Hey everyone,
Counter Strike it's a low end game, it's old and everybody knows..
However i cant get it running on my 6750, it only runs on my onboard graphic card... the 6520g..
I've modded the bios and selected FIXED, and it still runs on my onboard
I've selected on catalyst to use the best performance graphic card, and it still runs on my onboard..
i get BF3 running on my 6750 easily, however there's nothing i could do to get Counter Strike using my 6750..
Do any of you guys encountered similar problem ? How did you solve it ?
THanks!

Which counter strike?
If it's 1.6, I heard a while back [like a year ago] that the newer AMDs had opengl issues. -
Obviously he is talking about 1.6.

Any version of CS is a low-end game
-
can you not select which programs use the discrete card?
-
-
So the new AMD cards have trouble running one of the most popular FPS games of all time? Way to go AMD.
-
if the issue is AMDs with opengl then you can try to change the rederer to D3D and then run it with the 6750.

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?

Not really fat dragon... in some maps, when theres smoke grenades and lots of people on my screen i see my fps dropping to 40-50
and 40fps in counter strike is not nearly as smooth as 30fps in bf3
so, its kind of outraging to get fps drops to 40 in a 10 year old game
does anybody know how to REALLY selected the offboard graphic adapter to a certain program ?
thanks -
How do it run on iGPU when you use fixed?
-
baiiii, thats what i'd like to know...
i've read articles on the internet that said eventhough you selected FIXED in the BIOS, and you manually selected in CCC to use the best performance, windows 7 insists in using the onboard becaus it thinks as the program is so simple, i won't need the 6750
see this :
Studio One - Optimizing Windows Vista/7 Power Settings for Studio One : PreSonus Audio Electronics -
what is the laptop you using? and it have nothing to do with win7/cpu imo
-
its a dv6-6170br
a6 llano 3400
8gb ddr3
hd 6750 + 6520
is there a way i can phisically disable/kill the onboard graphic ? -
you enable fixed in bios(which you said you did), then pick choose graphic based on power sauce in CCC?
-
i picked "high performance"... and on Xpress its selected the 6750...
-
Like this? How you tell it is running on iGPU -
yes, like that
and on AMD System Monitor it shows the iGPU working and the FPS is horrible.. -
I nvr had a problem ~~ see if any 1 ran CS can jump in. These dual driver is buggy and amd is not gonna work on them soon. (12.3WHQL is officially unsupported for dual graphic laptop like dv6....)
-
oh man i wish i had bought intel + geforce
this amd dual crap is driving me nuts -
It is cheaper ~~

Optimus is just as bad by all reports, but there's no manual switching option.
Isn't fixed supposed to be manual GPU switching? Have you tried rolling back to the last HP-supported GPU drivers? You might have somehow broken your manual switching by updating to something unsupported. -

you know whats high-end? MW series!
-
Of course MW2 and BF3 have high-end graphics compared to Source...but I was comparing Source to 1.6.
Btw CS 1.6 may have very low-end graphics but still I consider it the best Pro-Gaming FPS out there. The Gameplay and Balance is just perfect...I played it for years in Leagues and Cups...and I'm still playing it.
