Which Counter strike should i buy and what deals are there for it? Also does anyone have it for free or anything? It's something like 15 quid for all of them which is absurd for such an old game.

    Thanks.

well i personally would go for counter strike source. Its also having a pretty nice update that is currently in beta testing but from what ive played in the beta so far it makes the game much funner to play.

At 19.99 its kinda ridiculous though. maybe buy a package that includes it? like the counterstrike complete package seems like a good deal. or if you have the funds the valve complete pack is a superb deal if you dont have all those games.

I'll definitely vouch for the Valve Complete Pack. Over the years, I've bought everything as it came out...totally worth it.

I understand that your budget probably doesn't allow for $100 to go on games all at once though, so the Counter-Strike pack is probably a better deal for you. Pretty solid price for both 1.6 and Source, as well as the Day of Defeat games and Ricochet.

And I would hardly call 15 quid absurd for Counter-Strike. There's a reason it's been the most popular PC shooter for all these years. They could charge the same $50 as a new release, and people would still eat it up. Valve games are nothing if not fairly priced.

Yeah get the counter strike complete pack. Counter Strike 1.6 still holds up today, and source is just well source. However the valve full pack also has some pretty fun games, Half Life 1 is still pretty darn fun after all.

SOURCE IS THE BEST... 1.6 is good, but its for old school hardcore fans...

i think that price tag for counter strike source is a bit high especially considering i got it for free with my half life 2 purchase years ago. of those two packs depending on what you currently already own i would get the complete pack if you can. it not only contains counter strike but another real popualr online game right now is left 4 dead. the complete pack is easily a fantastic deal for someone new to valve games. but if your like me and own them all except 3 then not so great a deal lol.

    zomg lyk get 1.6.

seriously though, this is how counter-strike works.

1.6: everyone hacks, everyone is amazing.
source: everyone awps, you can run and gun with accuracy.

1.6 is the better game, but source will be more gratifying

1.6 is the better game. 1.6 is more satisfying. 1.6 is more gratifying.

1.6 will give you a better experience.

Sure it's old, but who cares? Starcraft is old too! But they're both fun! There are still some good servers out there. Just find them and play there and you won't have to worry about hackers. Internationally, more people play 1.6 than source (go look on game-monitor.com), and it's probably one of the best games I've ever played.

In honesty, CS Source sucks so much compared to 1.6. Everything in source is just so awkward...

1.6 is cheaper too! no deals that I know of though.

Go for source. But complete pack is very cheap and worth it.

I believe Razer's mouse CS team plays CS 1.6. And I believe the hardcore tournaments are still 1.6.

no doubt that it's one of the best, but it has such a high learning curve that newcomers in 2010 probably won't enjoy 1.6

frankly, it's just too difficult of a game. it's so old that everyone knows EVERYTHING about every map.

the players are just ridiculous with twitching.

i feel killing people in 1.6 is much more gratifying, but the experience for a newcomer will be dreadful. you're going to die 90% of the time just due to lack of fast response and knowing how to aim and use sound.

1.6 was fun, but you had to practice a lot, it's not that easy as Modern Warfare, yu have to know how to aim and how to listen and walk. If you're serious about gaming you'll like it, as this is game is very competitive and has nice matches.

    1.6 all the way
cheaper and still one of the most popular FPS
but if you're new in it, you will need months if not years of practice to keep up with the other players
unlike today's fps games, this one really requires some serious skill
