Hey guys, i decided to make this thread reading from all the countless experienced counter strike source players out there in NBR and maybe could whip up a scrim or two sometimes.
Here i would like to talk about, strats, post videos, screenies anything related to CSS.
My current team is running into some kind of crysis right now so i was wondering.
Any tips or strategies you guys use to win scrimmages/CAL matches
especially on dust 2? My team cant pull ourselves together![]()
Although we have amazing standalone strength, we fail and crumble at teamwork
Advice ?![]()
-
Id like to join a NBR scrim, but my latency will probably be like 200+ on overseas servers.
I like my 5-20ping on local servers
Teamwork is everything. -
Hehe that would be quite awesome.
Although im not sure whats quite wrong with my team.
Even if we can pull off frags by ourselves, our coordination, teamwork and communication is what makes us lose against even the worst of teams.
We usually have 2~3+kdr on servers....its just scrims.
Now we arent pubstars hahaha.... -
Played CS since the 1.1 days... you would think I would be good! I am a decent CS/CS:S player, but nothing to gawk at. I usually rank in the top 3 on the servers I play on, but again, I've never competed, so I'm sure I would get raped.
My favorite map is Dust_2. The amazing "flank" opportunities are endless. (Tunnel/hole in wall at B, over-under at A, etc.) -

I'd be game for a scrim sometime.
Do you use xfire?
Ok as far as strats go, here are some good Dust 2 strats:
As CT:
Split up your team evenly between going A and B. Once your team gets to the sites do NOT go looking for the Terrorists but camp out each bombsite and stay in communication as to how many are going where. If you do this you should be fine as CT.
As T:
Have your sniper watch double doors (down the middle) and have them let your team know how many went to B (how many crossed the door).
After this, then decide which bombsite to go to. Once you have decided STICK TOGETHER. If you do this you should be good on T.
Hope this helps and hopefully be playing ya soon! XD -
How well do you guys communicate? If you guys talk to each other and actually listen and use the info, then thats the main parts of cordination. It also wouldn't help to have a general game plan like shoelace suggested.
-

Also, a mic for each team member really is a must have...
-
yep you want some teamspeak happening........teamspeak will own any team without it. CS is old........play Cod4........
-
Is there mod to increase the bot in the game? I am trying to practice my aiming with bot (ak-47) but only three bots come in because I am the only human player in the server.
Thanks -
you mean the number of bots? because you can just set the number when you create the server...........meaning you can have up to the max the map can take.
-
I rarely play dust, me and my friends always play office.
-
I always just join random servers for fun and play random maps.....although i wud love to play css properly and be a part of some team....let me know if any of you guys have room...
-
Dust2 is the most over played map, over 50% of servers are Dust 2.........
Don't people get bored of it? IN a game of dust 2, there is always one team that wins, the tide never turns, get quite boring.
I've been playing since CS 1.4, I am a regular pub player...I play it for the laughs.
Whats everyone's steam addy? Mine is tse727 -
Well yeah we all have mics..except. When we normally get to bombsites, we kinda wander off looking for T's and we peek much too often which gets us killed..
We are kinda coordinated and we can get to places fast enough but our efficiency and teamwork is lacking.. -
game sence is essential, make sure your team is on the same level as you a frag hunter on your team will most likely create weak points. sinc the nades, if someone calls a possiton work on nadeing it in time together. last but not least enjoy and get on with everyone you play with in your team.
If you guys all want a nbr mix match some time i got a london 1000fps server and vent we could use. -
-
If anyone has Xfire, my I.D. is "suffergann01". Yeah, that's how long I've been playing these games. '01 baby. No seriously. Really.

I find 100 annoying to play with...>.> on local servers my ping is usually between 10-60.
-
best CSS online forum ?
-
My team has a scrim record of ...round 17-2..
scrim us if you have the time -

Wish I had a CS team to be on...
I am in a squad, but we are just some older guys who dig the community and playing CoD4 every now and then. No one plays CS... -
I would war, but as they said before, ping would be a killer
-
I assume most of you are not within Europe? I seem to be playing CS Source daily on local UK servers. Pings over 60-70 i will find laggy.
Dust2 is a great map providing you have enough players...
We just recently set up our own server which will run in conjunction with our new site we will soon be launching too... -
I can give you pain down-under if you like. *ahem* excuse me for the pun xD.
I'm not into CS:S as much as I used to be, even though I'm the ripe age of 18, I feel the need for other things to do.
Anyway this is the CS:S thread so I'll be on topic
I find that being in sync with your team is ALOT more efficient. Being overly better than your team and going out on your own puts you at a disadvantage, no matter how good you are. Practice with your team, often.
Learn to use nades, flashes and smokes, accordlingly with your teammates. Use your mic, radio commands etc, so that you can literally act as one.
On Aussie servers I'm around the 30-50 ping mark, pretty happy with that. Anything above 100 I consider to be annoying lag. xD
And yeah... Dust2 is REALLY overplayed, but it doesn't get boring. Only on public servers will one team rule over another at somepoint in the match, because those d**ks won't listen. Other than that, great war map. Office, Actec and Dust are also pretty good, IMO. -
It is annoying when people don't listen...
''RUSH!!!''...5 seconds later, ''or not...''
arenji, i have left the UK now...but you would have found me on office servers. I played on fragmasters and UKCSS i think.
-
anyways, you can have one ridiculous person on your team and win every time. -
How come i was not invited for CS discussion
well i dont know where to start....
one thing i can say is that CS Source is not so popular with professionals mainly due to bad Hitboxes & too much emphasis on realism which means u cant Hop & do various tricks...for example use fast Duck to avoid getting shot my AWP.
Well were/are u part of any Clan ? -
Lol what are you talking about? many professionals play counter strike source.
In Championship Gaming Series (CGS) there are many worldwide teams who compete in source...theres not really anymore 1.6. -
Darn most people here are US based Oo cant play on those servers, to laggy
Oh yeh just a question, whats happened to valve making Source beta? -
What's the difference between buying CSS in the retail box and just buying it off steam? From what i've read, if you buy it in the box it comes with HL2 deathmatch and DOD:S for free, as opposed to paying the same price on steam and just getting CSS and nothing else.
If there are no advantages of buying it off Steam i'm going with the retail box... -
Yeah you do get DOD
and HL2: DM with CSS retail box.
I've got the retail box myself.
-
^ Nice! Cept i've heard that people have problems installing the box...my system specs are in my sig...got Vista home premium 32-bit...should I really be worried about running into these problems?
-
It installed on XP fine, but really all you need is the CD-Key from the box and you can download the games from steam.
-
Yeah, a lot of hardcore 1.6 players tell me that Source is too easy... It's different I'll say that, and generally a player from 1.6 can easily get into Source, but that doesn't mean its easier. It all depends really on the teams, the weapon your using, etc. IMO, I just could never play 1.6 no matter my skill level just because the graphics really are just old now. I used to only play Source on Office...but now I just play GG and some DM.
Oh, and just to add in some discussion points. I usually use the m4 because for me its the most balanced gun at short and long range. The AK is probably the best gun in the game, but I just can't use it lol. The m4 I just use short bursts and that usually gets the job done, if a team (usually the ts) is starting to camp too much, I jump to either a p90 or shotgun. P90 is really a good rushing gun...I haven't found another one that can quite surpass a 50 round clip in close range. The shotgun is more for defending though, nothing beats killing someone with a shotgun. -
Yes, I agree with that, I used to play CS:CZ (basically 1.6) before I went ''Source''. I started off playing on official maps then went through the stage where I only played DM/GG/ZombieMod I am not back to normal CS:S.
In fact i mostly only play office now lol.

Keep the posts reasonable, I had to delete one because it was flamebait. Thanks.
-
Ehh, I got another question...
What's the deal with buying a used copy of CSS? As long as the game has been uninstalled by the previous owner and the cd-key isn't in use, I should just be able to enter it into steam and download the game off there (or the discs?) without any problems right? -
No, once a game is registered to a Valve account, it cannot be used again.
-
-
i bought in my local store css + dod:s pack for 15euros and HL2 game for only 7euros, all in retail box, and as far as i know, HL2 is 20$ on steam and CSS is i think the same price as HL2
btw my steam name is wahad987, add me. im usualy playin on teesside university servers and team sas servers
-
Nice! I used to play on teeside servers!
Then I only played on UKCSS office server.
But now I have left the UK.
-
Anyway, I never got into source and don't play to, but I can probably still tell you somethingI played 1.5 for about half a year and 1.6 for about 4 years (CAL for like 1.5 years; almost made it to cal-m before I stopped playing competitively).
You say you need help with d2? Well, as others have said, make sure you all have mics and vent/teamspeak/something so you can all easily communicate; talking in-game just doesn't cut it. You need to be able to talk to each other (talk, not yell... yelling at each other is bad and helps none whatsoever).
Practice, practice, practice. Jump into your/someone's server (preferably one where it can be just you and your teammates) and go over strategies for different scenarios. Know where to fall back to if your teammate dies, when you need to rush, etc. If you can predict everything your team is going to do, chances are you will eventually be able to predict what other teams will be doing in scrims... There isn't THAT much to do on dust2, or any map for that matter; it's all basically the same thing.
If you don't have access to your own server to practice on, go into a pub together and fool around (this probably won't help as much, but atleast you can play together before scrims). Also practicing with bots will help with aim/reflexes and that's about it.
Oh, and if bots get too boring and you want to figure out new ways of practicing your aim/reflexes, play on custom aim maps (used to do this all the time on 1.6, so I'm assuming source has custom aim map pubs also). I used to have competitions with my clan on aim maps. You eventually get real good with an AK/M4, but knowing the recoil of each gun, how to spray, how to burst, etc. also helps with aiming
(I think this is much different in source though. And by different, I mean easier..).
I guess I'll stop now, I don't know what else to say.. Just practice with your team, be sure to communicate all the time, but remember, yelling will ruin everythingAnd try to know the map you're playing on inside and out. Dust 2 is probably the most popular map, and the most fun. If you're having a tough time thinking of your own strats, try looking up what other people do. Just practice and communicate, and everything else will work out fine. A team that talks to each other but doesn't have the most amazing skill out there can beat a team with the most amazing skill but no teamwork skills. Like you said, you guys are great individually. Most people are. Sharing your skill with the rest of your team is the part most people have trouble with.
Oh, and if you don't want to play CS to get your reflexes up, try going to missionred and play some of those games. I used to do this all the time -
I was there couple of times last yr
. I havent been playing css since last july till like 2 weeks ago... had hard time job and stuff like that so i havent had any time to play
.
i was there for one yr straight, every night from 11pm till 4amthan server stopped working
just block, and noone can keep on playin
then we were moving to office servers
lots of good players was there, noobus, all **** guys (tom, smelly) lots of kbb guys (that clan does not exist any more, i was there with jason-killerbadboy and danny-bulldog (cls)) -
yes i used to be in swi. missionred is a great site to get reflexes up. and having one ridiculously good player CAN carry you through a lot of ****. i know when i was on limitless, we had absolutely no teamwork. we ran around and fragged, that's it. we went undefeated in season 13 up to like week 7 in a match i didn't play. you don't NEED to have teamwork, but it definitely helps. you'd be surprised at how little higher tier teams practice. most of it is just intuitive counter-strats and **** like that. missionred.com, reflexte, 725,000. beat it and you break my record.
-
i dont have CS:S but i have CS:CZ and everything before that.. just wondering does CS:S have the Rats maps?? i heard some maps were taken out and new ones were put in or something? i have no idea

Counter Strike Source = random spray and pray, great graphics
Counter Strike 1.6= skill worthy, terribad graphics (old game)
Counter Strike CZ= competition level is very low
I dont know about 1.6 or Condition Zero but here are some Counter Strike Source leagues.
Counter Strike Source competitive offers (in ranking order):
OGL (Online Gaming League)---> Not a very well known league. Mostly beginners
TWL (Team Warfare League)---> Some decent players, still not a very comparable league
CAL-Open----> Mostly beginners and reformed teams compete here. Hundreds of teams enter this league each season.
CAL-European Open---> (same as above but in Europe)
CEVO-Amateur---> Registration fee required. Skill level is that of CAL-Intermediate caliber. Well known league. Competition is quite tough.
CAL-Intermediate---> Must have won first round of CAL Open playoffs. Skill level is a notch higher than Open. Strategies become a tad more complex.
CAL-Main---> Must have attained 1st place in CAL open or won CAL-intermediate playoff rounds. Skill level is much higher than intermediate. Strategies are complex and daily team practice is required in order to succeed.
CAL-European Main--> (same as above but in Europe)
CEVO-Main---> Competition bar is raised by alot. Registration fee is required. Must have won CEVO-Amateur. Skill level is much higher than CEVO-Amateur. Strategies are VERY complex and require discipline and much practice.
CAL-Invite---> Competition is raised by alot like CEVO-Main. Skill level is of the highest in all CAL league. Only a few teams make it every season. Strategies are VERY complex and require dedication and ALOT of practice.
CEVO-Professional----> Competition is of insane skill level. Only determined and goal-set teams will attain this league. Few VERY good teams make it every season. Strategies are extremely complex and require dedication, practice, discipline, LAN tournament experience and ultra good communication.
Championship Gaming Series (CGS Franchise)---> Your last stop in the Counter Strike Source gaming road. This league is the top of all others. This is where the big boys play. Endorsements,drafts,sponsorships.. u name em. You play for a living. Your a pro. Strategies are made by geniuses. To get to this level u need to have probably played for 5+years of CSS so that you have fully understood the concept and strategies of all maps and how to use every single gun (and control every aspect of the game).
Gamers in this category score around 20,000$ + in a year as a starter.
Professional players such as devour can make up to 100,000$ a year.
Looks like video games finally paid off huh? -
i dont see CSS as a spray and pray game.. you wont get far by spraying.
-
scout FTW other than the accuracy getting worse the farther away the target is. Its lightweigt decent no scope / shoot after a scoop in
i cant even play with an awp anymore thats how much of a headshot scout whore ive become plus it weighs a ton
plus i get lots of comments when i use scout IE nice shots / hacker / OMG get a life
ElectRo_filter if anybody wants to add me sorta lookin for clan
