Counter Strike: Soure beta

"Available immediately, Valve has launched an extensive update to Counter-Strike: Source, now in beta. The update includes a host of new features and functionality developed in collaboration with Hidden Path Studios.This beta will run for a limited time, and once complete, the update will be deployed to all Counter-Strike: Source owners for free via Steam."

Among that "host of new features and functionality" you'll find the following:

■144 achievements added
■New lifetime player stats and summary screens
■New match player stats and summary screens
■New end of round display with MVP and interesting fact about a player
■Updated scoreboard with new icons, visual style, MVP stars, and avatar pictures
■New cinematic death camera
■New domination and revenge system
■Added avatar icons to voice chat, scoreboard, and end of round display
■Incorporated many source engine updates

Yeah i was reading about it last night also then when i opend up steam today it was in the steam news.

 

It's full already. Such a shame, been a WHILE since I've played CS:S and was hoping to try it out again with some new features.

 

when you say full, what do you mean? You can't d/l it? Cuz I'm currently downloading but will it let me try later?

Hey look, promod.

 

I just played it. It now has a multicore and motion blur option under video settings. Also texture can go from high to very high.

 

Dont know if anyone want to enable motion blur, bet its really going to mess up surf maps.
Still nice to see that CSS has finally moved over to Orange Box Source engine.

 

lright played a quick round.

when you get killed there's a TF2 like save this screen shot F5 and zoom freeze on your killer. So yeah TF2 like haha. Pretty standard achievements, win 100 rounds on each maps, kill x amount, win by planting bomb etc etc, stuff you should get by playing normally, then I saw one where you survive ten rounds without dying or spending cash on new guns.. also earn $xx dollars.

The beta is pretty much shoehorning CS:S onto Source engine 15, which is the same engine that TF2 runs on. I like the update so far, but I rave that CS:S now has dual core support. Now those topped out zombie servers won't be so choppy anymore.

 

Niiiice. Too bad I suck at Source. I'm pretty decent at 1.6 though
