I was wondering...the Counter Strike series is such a great series i cant wait to see whats next in store after Source.
Has there been any news related to a next version? im really curious! Google hasnt provided me with really concrete answers tho :\
-
There has been talk of a CS 2, but nothing more. They were thinking about what direction to take it next, like same gameplay but with better graphics or something different like TF2... Plus, if they do make it, it will probably come out before Starcraft 2, lol.

CSO,
CS online.
Releasing only in South-east Asia.
it ll replace CSS and lot of inside info says its gonna be the the best Online game ever released.
they have outsourced the development to some other company.
just google around.. u ll get more info. -
considering how many people play cs:s, i believe the game in itself will live for a VERY long time. i mean if you look at the #'s of people playing, it completely dominates every other game online except WoW (but that's a whole different category of gaming)
counterstrike (1.6 and source) average about 170,000 players at all times
cod4 average is about 30,000-40,000 players at all times
tf2 average is around 10,000 players at all time
day of defeat/battlefield 2/battlefield 2142 fall closely under that
**these #'s are according to game-monitor
looking at those numbers, counterstrike is global. it is truly a competitive game that involves tactics (if you allow it) or run and gun. im a semi-new player to the cs:s world and i was hesistant on buying it at first. but then i saw how strong the online community is and it just is phenomenal. no matter what new games come out, i still feel the urge to play cs:s over them all.
i know that cs will outlive many other games for a long long time to come in the online world, but a cs2 would be VERY interesting as long as they keep it true to the original so that the fanbase will be happy. for now, i will continue playing css every chance i get, but when cs2 release date is revealed, i will be looking forward to it greatly
happy gaming -
WoW only has high Figures because China has worlds largest population and all die Gaming.
WoW is the most nonsensical game i have ever played.
stopped playing it within a week.
CS FTW!! -
actually counter-strike pro mod is in development, it's supposed to mix in source graphics with 1.5 and 1.6 gameplay... who knows the future of that project, but it has a following.
-
yeah CS FTW! it needs a future! HL 3
-
nline was suppose to replace CS:CZ not CS:S?
-
People still play CS 1.6 online... 9 years after release... I don't see CS:S dying out any time soon.
-
but even those who are on Cs:S are gonna play CSO.
i asked some guys from other clan and they said they wanna try out CSO too.
actually CS:S is not liked by old CS pr0s... they still prefer CS1.6
dont kno why. -
Yeah, CS:S is greatly disliked by many 'pros' in the community. I think CS:S is fine, but if they make a sequel I would recommend they change things up. The old model is getting really boring and only has such a strong fanbase due to the momentum provided by the original CS.
-
I wish Valve would make characters for both sexes. =/
-
-
Not to say that 1.6 doesn't have bugs, but not as much. Take a 'pro' in CS:S, and let him play a game of CS 1.6. Then you'll see how good he really is. Besides, theres a reason why twice as many players still play 1.6 - aside from hardware requirements.
Also, the main character for Portal is a girl, along with the announcer lady or w/e...
Just don't see them in Counter-Strike because...how often do you see a female terrorist running around with an AK-47 lol. -
at least it does not have to be censored XD -
-
-
Source ain't perfect, but then again neither is 1.6. 1.5 was better by far - were YOU around for the shítstorm when they changed to steam? I doubt it. 1.3 was even better, which is why csp is based upon it.
Anyway, whatever, CSO isn't going to do anything. -
Is this a bad thing though? The majority of gamers in the world are casual players, i.e. n00bs. As gaming becomes more mainstream, I think that it's important for games to be accessible to the lowest common denominator.
I understand where you are coming from. But a veteran player will ideally be playing clan matches most of the time, so they will not be bothered by the newbies on the public servers. This way, everyone has fun, the pros and the newbs alike.
I hope they release some next-generation form of CS alongside HL3, and take the world by storm. Unfortunately it will be quite a while before HL3 comes out.... -
CS:S has terrible hitbox detection, it's really frustrating to get owned by nubs that you'd have killed in 1.6.
-
Its very easy to MOD CS -
i really hope it will be called counter strike core cause that's a straight up ****ing awesome name
-
exactly.
although same goes the other way around.
You can shoot someone across the map and get a random headshot in source. It's such a fun game still.
but 1.6 > source
1.5 > 1.6 > source > 1.3
I was playing at the time of 1.5 change to 1.6 and it sucked for so long in the beginning. -
I have played source now for several years, and I STILL suck. That never happened in 1.6. After 2-3 years of playing I was consistently good at playing the game. But NOOO, with Source I still find days where I am sitting at the bottom of the list 0-15.
So what is the difference? Should I just start shooting in the opposite direction or something? Would that make a hit more likely? Source causes me greater frustration than any other game. -
Source is an easy game...i find 1.6 even easier. I can get faster headshots in 1.6 then Source... although i still get about 2, 3 kill death ratios

The one thing I have a hard time doing in Counter-Strike is typing. Most users have their directional keys at default (W, A, S, D). I use the arrow keys. The same with jumping, use, crouch, talk, throw weapon away. Arrow keys + Num Pad + other keys surrounding arrow keys = fun time trying to talk to someone in a quick fight. :/ -
I agree to the fact that CS and CS:S will be around for a long time, but they should release a new engine soon. CS was released in 99 and CS:S in 2004. That means there was a 5 year gap between the new engine and old. It has been what 4 years? So a new CS should be around next year, hopefully.

good question
-
xP... u guys are quite off-topic eh? Anyways! Will CSO only be available for asian regions? or can Americans/Canadians play too
-
it appears CSO is only for asian regions w00t to me -
All it sounds like is CZ with more guns and maps.
I do love the MP7A1 though! I could get a skin for CSS, but I'd rather not. -
SomeFormOFhuman has the dumbest username.
Speaking of CS, I have played from cs 1.1 all the way to source. Things change alot. One of the biggest bugs of the game is deagle and AWP working as a great combo. Like a laptop using an 8800M GTX pared with X9000, keep pressing the Q all the way will release a fast glimpse view of the crosshair and... pow with the AWP! The buggar is dead. Whereas for Source, it took me a while to get used to the way the AWP works. The AK 47 is also one of my rainy day guns when I'm relatively low on cash - It just takes 2 shots to kill if aimed properly. Sweet and nice.
And yes, I still like 1.6 as compared to Source as it is. it's way easier to headshot on Source. Valve might have tweaked the headshot and hit box capability.
And yeah, one thing I must admit about Source is those bots. I like em' hard to play with. I take the Expert mode all the time and I get frags of like 100 to 6-10 deaths only.
Counterstrike is one of the most best played games around and I dare say it. You don't need an extremely high-end graphics card to play it either. Any average computer will be able to max out the FPS at 60 by default settings with ease. -
or try downloading off Torrents.
its not out yet so many dont kno how it ll be distributed.
i have some chinese friends, will ask them to check for me. -

There are of course an awful lot of dumb people on WoW too... it greatly annoys me! -
On Steam not many Hack as their entire account will be banned.
u shud try playing on quality servers.
go to http://www.game-monitor.com/ and check out servers in your area -
Some info on CS:S's anti cheat.
Firstly, once VAC2 detecs that you are using a hack, your account is NOT instantly banned, it takes 3 months before you get banned.
VAC2 is extremely easy to bypass for hackers, and will NEVER and can NEVER get banned by using Steam Cafe.
All of this is basic info on www.steampowered.com
The next version of CS was talked about by the developer of Valve anti cheat in an interview, and was talking about the next version of CS, as CS 2.0. Saying that they won't go the route of TF2 because it just isn't fitting for CS, but might make some gameplay additions, and graphical enhancements. They don't want to change the quick pace that CS has always been, it's more of an arcade style quick online FPS rather than a tactical one, and they want to keep CS 2.0 that way. Also, the game is in development.
