Counter strike 1.6 tips!

Guys i have been playing counter strike with my friends in school for a few months and it's really addicting and i decided to create a thread where everyone would be able to share tips with eachother or even their favourite wepon.

For me i normally use M4 or bull pump i always use frags and i like to use the glock 18 because it has a hi round clip, a fast to change to weapon, a cheap weapon and it has no blowback aswell.

Well uhhh... I play Source but here's what I've learned...

If you're gonna spray, aim lower (as in, don't aim for the head, with several exceptions). The recoil will eventually cause a few bullets to hit the head.

AK47 = 30 round full automatic sniper rifle of doom

SMGs = Spray, but don't pray, cause you're gonna hit it. Highly controllable (except for the MAC10). Rarely do I ever shoot in bursts as one would normally would in CS, except in a few instances with the MP5. These are probably one of the few weapons you can spray and aim at head while spraying (especially the TMP, an underliked gem)

Visualize the path of the grenade, don't just use the crosshair. You may accidentall bounce it off the wall in front of you if you rely on the crosshair. Right or left hand makes a difference.

Stop moving before you fire a sniper rifle

FA-MAS + burst = amazing range and accuracy

Holding right click will activate a safety on most guns (you cannot fire while holding right click. Not really a tip, just a fact)

Just a few basics.

 

Always burst when using Ak47, it give incredibly high accuracy, but when upclose, just spray like mad, because it always works: random HS is almost guaranteed

Try jumping out from corners into open spaces.

You can press shift when using the sniper to create a instant break in speed giving a sure hit, but not necessary for scouts or autosniper .

NEVER spray with AK47..

even at 1 feet distance u wont kill him.

with AK47...if u wanna spray (in urgent situation) then Aim between his legs and do an open fire.

 

Experience tells me otherwise, but most of the time you spray because you are in URGENT situation (Enemy popped out in front of you all of a sudden), and of course you open fire (you should not be a sitting duck). Plus, aiming between his legs will net you probably the lowest amount of damage you can ever do to your opponent, you should spray in the chest area, giving high damage if it hits the chest, or if you are lucky, a HS which is instant kill.

 

try Aiming on the Chest, and u ll be dead before u even empty your magazine.

AK47 is a Sprayers nightmare.

its a glock in n00bs hand & an atomic bomb in a pr0s hand.

its one of the trickiest weapon in CS if have played enough.

 

You aim between the legs, because the recoil will cause your bullet spray to move from the stomach, towards the head, causing alot of damage inbetween

i play source as well. hear are my tips.

all guns are irrelevant save the ak and the m4. also the awp if your a really good sniper. sure the other guns look cool and probally could do lots of damage but the guns i metioned are the most used, and probally the most versitale weapons. i reccomand always using the silencer on the m4. it makes me more accurate. never spray either the ak/m4. it will do next to nothing even at medium range. fire the ak in 1 -3 round burst aiming for the head. same with m4.

use your sound. your can hear people running around and u can prefire and kill them. always buy a defusal kit and armor. never buy a smoke grenade its not really worth it. nades are good. flashes are cool too. although im not a big fan of the team flashes.

 

Good old days of CS 1.6...

CS:S is more fun though me thinks. I also prefer USP...also love the scout...awesome gun for later on in the round when every one's health is low.


But really, for me the main thing is just to have fun, dont get too up tight with it. Its always a good laugh playing with a few friends.

Well 1.6 is a bit harder, so I can see the for pros comment. But it's not like there aren't any good people on Source.

As for the AK, I don't even burst. I use single shots, but tap it real quick.

Ummm don't remember much from my CS 1.6 days, but...

-Use the AK in 1-2 or 2-3 shot bursts, stop and get your aim again, repeat

-MP5 is a nice medium range spray gun

-When in sniper vs sniper battles with another AWP, if you shoot and miss, move to another position or you make yourself a very easy target for the other sniper

-Don't use too many porn sprays or servers will ban you pretty fast

I have been wanting to get CSS, how do you like it comparing to 1.6?

 

in a scrim (5v5 match) if short on money, buy a deagle + armor and head out

in a pub if short on money, buy a deagle + armor and camp. when half the teams are down, run out and look for a weapon on the ground. if u see someone, deagle them and they'll probably have HP thats lower than full

anyway, as for tips, learn to never spray. you can do this by using pistols as often as possible until you lose the urge to spray. one to three shot bursts work the best i can also teach you guys how to bunny hop, surf, special jumps, and all that fun stuff

 

I have some too.

When your teamy is about to go around a corner, team flash him and watch him take all the hits. Don't worry he has kevlar and a helmet--or so you guess--then step out and steal some kills. Repeat this process every round and watch your score climb.

If you survive the round and are near the enemy spawn, throw a HE in the spawn right before the round ends. Sometimes the HE will survive the round reset and pepper the poor bastards that spawn. Also make sure to gloat about it.

Buy smoke grenades and chuck them every where. When people complain about FPS, buy more.

When you get face-to-face with a unfriendly (or friendly) jump up and down like a retard while you stab your knife.

 

Ive played in numerous clans...for source and i am quite an experienced player. (hehehe).

u always have to strafe + burst shot when using a rifle.

U need sound (headset pref.). A good mouse + good config that does not lag

Settings your rates and ping works too.... type net_graph 30 in your console to get your ping and other stuff

Sorry for going kinda off topic..but how do you get CS? Do you have to download Steam or something first? Cheers for understanding a n00b

 

Yep you can purchase it off Steam for $10.

A long time ago it sold in stores, but I don't think anymore.

Get a game that doesn't involve you sitting and doing nothing 75% of the time, you know, like TF2.

CS and CS:S is a young man's game, I don't have hours every day to sit and stare at other people play! It sure was fun back in the day though.

I have a question relating to source. How do people get kills with one knife slash? It always takes me 3-4 knife slashes to get a kill. What am I doing wrong?

right click does the stab which does more damaged than slashing. you get a quick knife kill from behind your opponent to the head

 

I don't think its has to be at the head...just generally behind the person will do...


If you dont wanna sit around most of the time then don't die so early...lol

Camping is awesome! You get to piss off everyone is the server, and that's really fun.

 

Another good tip.. Get a gaming mouse.

 

Negative. You do not need a gaming mouse to play CS properly.

Most CS players (professionals too) play at low sens and do not need the high DPI that gaming mouses offer.Its really optional.. not a must have

Guys once i camped and killed their whole team (we were in different dorms) 2 seconds later five people ran into my dorm and start screaming u f***ing retart stop F***ing camping and then i got beaten out of my chair.... And it was the most arkward moment in m life, please tell me how to convience people to think that camping is a smart thing.....

You should check every corner...

 

i am by no means a professional at this game (or good for that matter), but i do have tips i can lend off.

-learn the difference between the sound that the flash and smoke grenades make versus the HE grenade. this will help you know when to run away or when to spin around so you don't get flashed. the HE grenades have a more of a clunkier sound, while the smoke and flashes are kinda tinny.

-don't crouch and shoot if you're by yourself aiming at a person. it's easy to line up your crosshairs carefully if the guy is spraying at you while he's crouched.

-use you walk key

-learn how to bounce grenades and how to flash (and double flash). smokes are also underrated, they help often if you're scrimming.

-when you're firing at someone long ranged move around a lot, but stop moving before each shot. if you're moving, your shots will be inaccurate.

-get good with a USP. whether you're scrimming or whatever, CT's always have USPs and they're better than glocks. when you have no money and a CT dies you can pick up his USP on T. the USP can actually stand against m4's and ak's at medium to close range fights.

-when going against an awp, quickly peak and pretend you are actually going to go out so he tries to shoot you. the second you hear the shot, move around the corner and shoot at the awper.

-you run faster with your knife out, and fastest with the scout.

-do not reload often. this usually gets you killed because you're shot while reloading.

-armor is nice, but guns kill people. buy guns before armor.

- learn to pull down and adjust your recoil. if you crouch and spray an m4, i think it ends up making a T shape if you're pulling down. it goes down, then up, then left and right (or something like that). learn to use that to your advantage.

-learn the spam spots.

-the silencer on the usp gives you random headshots. not joking.

-learn how to boost to places.

-learn to one click an AK when shooting long range. it can be very accurate.

-you can do some sneaky stuff by picking up the bomb or picking up guns (if the bomb is around a corner and the CTs know it's down, chances are they're on the other side of the corner waiting for you to pick it up cause it makes that noise. go somewhere where you can aim your gun at the corner, drop you gun and pick it up. they will come out thinking you picked up the bomb, then shoot them.)

-the same thing above applies to awpers, but in a different way. when you're near the corner and you know an awper is on the other side, jump up and throw your pistol or bomb out in front of him and he will shoot at it by accident just do to reflexes.

- when you're waiting at a corner to kill someone, don't look at the corner, look a bit away from it to compensate for your reflexes. when you start shooting the person will be at your crosshairs.

-in general, the maps with the concrete block walls, 4 blocks up from the ground is a headshot. meaning, if you aim at the fourth block from the ground, you're aiming directly at head level. this helps getting headshots on places like nuke.

-don't get frustrated, and have fun.

 

Has been a while since I've played but I'll try to give some tips that I don't think have been covered yet. And Levenly has some really good advice by the way.

-Except for the beginning of the round and unless you are in a BIG hurry, ALWAYS walk. If someone hears you they will get the jump on you.

-Make sure to get as much advantage as you can in each engagement, especially one on one fights. Don't be afraid to run if the situation favors your opponent.

-Recognize that the advantage will go to the person with: more space to maneuver, better cover, an escape route, a situation forcing the other to attack (bomb, defusing, etc), the height advantage, support, numbers, the better gun, better equipment. Try to win in as many categories as you can.

-Oh, and the biggest advantage appears when they have their backs to you. Its obvious, but not many people go out of their way to set up this situation.

-Be unpredictable. Choose different locations to hide, use unconventional routes.

-Watch your team's movements and try to flank the enemy. For example If your team goes long A, try to go short A after a short wait, you may be able to do some backstabbing that will both help your team win and rack up your score.

-The scout rocks.

-Recognize that different strategies are required for different stages of the round. In the beginning position and holding choke points are important. In later stages, the notions of cat and mouse play come in with stealth becoming more and more important.

-Don't panic when alone and outnumbered. Use the fact that you are alone to your advantage and use hit and run tactics.

-Always buy a defuse kit.

-Guard the bomb!

-The glock can be deadly in the right hands.

-Have fun

 

What is a USP???

 

USP is a Pistol... the Default pistol for CTs..

Agreed. Day of Defeat is the same thing. You don't have to wait for your whole team to respawn. There is a timer (usually a couple of seconds) to when you respawn so more action for you and less watching others.

 

While I agree that sitting out for two minutes after making a mistake near the beginning of the round can be a bore, I find that sometimes with this one life per round style of gameplay can make you weigh your actions more carefully. For example, in a respawn type game I have no qualms about attacking five people at once, as the reward-penalty tradeoff is clearly in my favor, whereas in a no respawn game I would likely back off and take a more conservative approach.

However, this also can slow down the pace (hard to match the speed of Quake and Unreal Tournament). It just depends on your preferences. Both respawn and no-respawn style games have their pros and cons. And plus there is always iceworld if you get too itchy!

In Word there's an Insert button there, you can go to symbols and see all those fancy stuff. Personally I like my name simple but yeah.

A tip hmm.. Well if it hasn't been said, be defensive if all you have is a pistol. Camp before key rush points in a map, just incase you might hear the opposing team.

Go with the flow. Your team members are one of your biggest assets in the game. Cover them, they cover you, life's great. Unless you use them. D:

If T's, Bombers objective is to plant the bomb, for everyones sake DO IT. And protect him if he's alone.

Camping is not a bad thing, unless you're Arnie and have the biggest arsenal money can buy.
