For some reason I can't get my framerate to go over 60fps in Counter-Strike and Condition Zero. They get upwards of 100fps or so in Source. I've already set the frame rate cap to 101fps.
An ideas?
I'm running a Dell 1520, 2.2 ghz, 8600GT, 2 gig RAM.

Is VSync on?
-
Don't know. Should I have it on? How can I tell? How can I turn it off?
-
Vsync can be turned off in the Advanced section in the video options. Basically, it syncs your framerate to the refresh rate of your monitor, which is why you're only getting 60 FPS (any higher doesn't matter, since your monitor can't output that many frames anyway). If you're benchmarking or just enjoy looking at large numbers, you can turn off Vsync and it'll probably be sitting at the standard 300 FPS cap.

In options sub-menu. If you turn it off, you will get 60+ fps. It may cause some graphical problems on some computers. Also, the fps may be limited. Use fps_max 100 (or whatever #) to make sure.
Also, you may improve CSS performance by tweaking a couple of the graphical updates with commands in console. Google "CSS tweaks" and you should get some good advices. -
Yep, you need to turn vsync off
, also once you have done that, make sure you do "fps_max 100" in console, or else it will be locked at 72.

Guys what do u mean by "fps_max 100" in console ? Is it a tool inside the game to increase the FPS ?
-
That command raises the maximum allowed fps in the game.
If for example you put in fps_max 27, then no matter what you do, and what hardware you have, you will never go past 27fps. It's just a limitation.
The default I believe is 60 in CS1.6, so a simple solution to him being stuck at a max of 60fps would be to use that command and increase the limit to 100. -
I've already set the fps limit to 100. I can't find the v-sync option in Counter-Strike 1.6 nor on Condition Zero. Any ideas?

Right click go to to nvida control panel. turn vertical sync off. then bam..
