If you guys wanna get in on the CS:GO beta you have to take a survey like the one for DOTA 2.
CS:GO Beta Survey:
steam://takesurvey/2/
You can use that link in one of two ways:
1) Open Internet Explorer and paste that into it.(Chrome does not work)
2) Open a steam chat box with a friend and enter it in there click.
Then you fill out the Survey which involves two steps:
1) After a few questions about your system hardware it transfers you to the CS:GO Beta website to put in some more information.
2) Hopefully Profit!![]()

The questions are kind of interesting, I am not sure if there are like right/wrong answers or if they are just hoping to get a mix of awpers, AKers, and M4 players to duke it out and achieve balance.
Hopefully I get in, the mobile graphics cards should be pretty rare, so that probably raises our chances. -
When is the release date for the beta?
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I already got their Dota 2, but I don't play it... Kinda don't like such games (setting). It's a pity they wasted it on me
.
Filled up the survey, lol, nice questions, wish I had similar questions during the exams in the uni. Dunno if I'm gonna be picked, haven't played CS a lot, somehow missed it and now it's quite hard to catch up...
Still looking very forward in getting into beta testing. -
thanks menace!
already filled the survey, sadly it could only read my integrated graphics card, not my hd radeon.. oh well I hope I can still get a key -
Thanks for that Mechanized Menace, I just filled it out. They were pretty interesting questions. It looks like they are trying pretty hard to get the balancing perfect. Props to Valve.
Hoping for an invite. -
Thank you for posting this!

Ya, I found the questions to be interesting and they really are trying to balance it. The Closed Beta already has begun a couple ppl on my friends list have already gotten in. I think that Mobile GPU's will have a better chance at getting in the Beta, due to them being not as common as desktops.
No problem guys about posting this, figured I would spread the love and share what I found. -
it worked in chrome for me, asking me whether i would allow steam to open up the link or not.
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Wouldn't work in Chrome for me...Weird. It asks me that when I put it in IE not in Chrome, but may just be something with my Chrome.
Got a little more info to share:
Valve's limiting the first run to 10,000 players. Two maps are available: Dust and Dust2. -
Wait what? They have de_train running at the moment (see CS blog, they added de_train last week).
I am waiting for a beta key too.

^^ Brings back good memories, doesn't it

signed up, still havnt gotten into dota 2 yet
-
I still remember the days when I played CS in internet cafes.
-
Internet Cafes + CS = Win.
Nothing says a good time than placing a headshot towards an enemy only to find the guy you shot is sitting right next to you. Then, you snicker to taunt said opponent. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
It's always so fun to out-duel an AWPer with a scout. -
nobody really scouts in pro games. and famas is only used when you're poor
-

thanks for the headsup!
-
I was so deadly with the MP5.
Man those were the days -
-
If you could master Scout, AWP is like a toy to you
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
With AWP, you have to stay still while scoped, and make sure you get that first shot in. If you miss, generally you'll die because of the long cooldown and slow runspeed. With scout, you can strafe like a hyperactive flea and plug guys all day long. -
-
scout and awp have complete different mechanics besides both having a scope. and nobody aims for the head with awp. this applies to both 1.6 and css.

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Bump, for anyone else interested.
-
Submitted mine last week, although my laptop probably won't be able to run it. It can run Counter-Strike: Source perfectly fine, but it has trouble running Portal 2. Assuming CS:GO runs on the same version of the Source engine as Portal 2, I doubt I'd be able to participate in the beta.
-
10k beta keys released today. Nothing for me again. :-/
-
didnt get in either. owell id probably lag anyways, waiting for kepler to come out before deciding whether to go with red or green
-
whine post. didn't get in either.
i guess i assumed i'd get into beta with 2200+ hours played of CS.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUU o well. i'm curious how they're picking people. seems really random from what I can tell. -
Urgh, now I wish I'd taken the survey on multiple machines + accounts, I really, really, really wanted to play this beta.
-
got in finally.
I have to say it's a blast to play CS on a new engine. The guns all seem to be a mess right now tho. They're testing a new gun game kind of thing. No buy menus, and the map is basically just a house you rush in the middle.
-
How did you get one? D:
-
-
-
i really don't like the new arsenal mode
it's the strangest thing ever
the map design is pretty cool it's basically a lake house that you fight over.
what's goofy about the game mode is t's start with ak, and ct's with m4's.
there's no buy menus, etc.
if you get a kill the next round you start with a lesser weapon.
it's like a backwards round based gun game. it's meh. -
Yeah it's like "gun-game" mode that lots of people play in source.
-
Bump! I got into the beta a little while ago, finally getting around to play it (exams and all). Really liking it so far. Anyone else in the beta?
-
Probably the only thing CS:S did well - along with zombies.
still haven't got a beta key though. Not a bad thing I guess since exams in less than 1 month for me. -
Can you believe that I got a beta key this week and whenever I load up a match, the game crashes? It's like the ultimate tease! So far no ideas as to what's happening and what to do about it. It seems that whenever I download it and launch it for the first time, I can play just fine. But whenever I exit out and launch it afterward, it will crash.
I really hope this is just an issue with my computer and the beta, and that it won't have any problems with the full release. Still, I feel taunted whenever I see the beta in my steam library and know that I can't even play it. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
5/10, totally unimpressed with CS:GO, aim is totally off. CS:S and 1.6 are better.
-
My main problem has been with movements of players - an issue since the source engine was released.
Still, Valve have come light years since the beta was initially released.
And I think its being released for $15 which I can't complain... bloody cod map packs cost the same. -
CS:S Better than GO?
But yeah it's improving, definitely much better than when I started on the beta. Movement is slowly getting there. Definitely enjoying it so far. -
submitted that. never picked awp, can't stand it tbh.
-
Knowing my luck, I won't receive an invite until the day before the release lol
-
tried the beta...1.6 > GO
-
I am enjoying CS:GO so far, feels better than CS:S, which never really grabbed my attention. Models, sounds, and mechanics are nicely improved.
-
The directional sound is still alittle off imo, but Valve did say they will be making big changes to the sound which I am looking forward to.
