I thought the commonly accepted geeky term for a non-fatal headshot was a "dink". Like "That #$#^ scouter dinked me through double doors! D:"

Still waiting for silencers....

They should add it at some point lol

The lack of silencers is a pretty glaring omission, imo.

Is anyone else having problems with their config not sticking? There was a small update that forced my crosshair back to default but when I checked the config file, all my custom settings were there. In the game it wouldn't read my config, though.
It's either it's not reading my config or the new config is moved elsewhere? -
I think you have to reset cross hair to classic default (in game for the settings to work).
hehe just went 19-3 today in one half of classic competitive. I was on such a roll... head shotting guys on the nest in Dust, taking out one guy in the tunnel and spinning and perfectly nailing his trailing partner... before getting vote kicked off for not following the "team directions". That seriously seriously seriously pissed me off. I'm gonna get off my pc and try and study because I am SOOO angry at the guys who kicked me.
seriously though - the virtually instant 5v5's is almost reason alone to purchase this game. The huge annoyances with pubbing in other cs versions are gone.
You can enjoy a decent experience without having to go through ESEA or anything. -
I tried this. There's still a gap and isn't just a '+'. It also scales when I fire. I guess I'll just have to get used to it. I was shocked joining a game last night to see the new crosshair. I stuck with it and did pretty well. It was just annoying thinking about all the work I've put into tweaking the config and then it just goes back to default and won't let me change anything.
-
Alright, for those wondering how to enable the older crosshair CVARs on the client-side, it's simple. To enable the legacy commands, just use this:
cl_legacy_crosshair "1" // 0 is default aka new
Update: I have my crosshair back. Finally. I'm setting the config.cfg file to read-only in case any update messes it up again. I've also made changes to other parts of my config that minimizes bobbing, model movements and other stuff. I love it. -
Oh man the combination of smaller hit-boxes, slightly less accurate guns, maybe weaker guns? made this way more difficult compared to source! I'm usually K2-D19! Also it feels like a lot of time my shots don't register.
I'm sure the game will get better with patches and updates. -
I finally caved and got a budget Radeon HD 6670 GPU in order to play this game. Previously I just used the Intel 4500MHD in my ThinkPad to play CS:S and other, older games, but CS:GO was unplayable. Luckily I had a desktop at home I could stick the GPU in, so I didn't have to buy an expresscard adapter to use it. Overall I still suck at Counter-Strike, but I've been having a great time playing 5v5 games.
Just recently I had an awesome round on Dust2 as a CT with a sawed-off shotgun and P250. It was a 1v3 when I was walking up short A. Killed on T on short, then tried to pick off one at back of site with the bomb planted. I couldn't hit him with my pistol, so I threw my smoke grenade near the barrels, then hopped down near CT spawn when the smoke bloomed. Walked up ramp and caught the T surprise as he was still looking for me at short. Didn't know where the other guy was, so I faked a defuse and heard him coming up ramp. I turned and caught him with one shotgun blast and finished the defuse to win the round. Damn that felt good. No other game has given me that rush when you clutch a win like that.
Perhaps the guns feel weaker because body shot damage was decreased compared to Source. It might also be the lack of visual feedback that you are hitting a target. Personally they "sound" a little weak to me, but they feel just as lethal as previous games.
I would agree with this, but only if Valve/HPE fixes up the matchmaking. The way it is right now is decent, but compared to other games like Dota2 and StarCraft 2, it's rather poor for a game that's supposed to be the first-person shooter's best chance at getting back into the eSports landscape. The ELO rankings don't seem to work that well. Also, there's just no incentive for sticking out a game and trying to come back from a deficit. Nor is there a punishment for quitting a lot of games and/or voting to change maps when you're about to lose. It's annoying having to play so many lopsided games before finally hopping into one that's around your skill level and ends up being a close game. -
Can you upload or post your config?
-
Sure.

Whoever wants to give it a try, I'm sure we won't have the same mouse as me or whatever, just remember the following:
-make a backup of your original config.cfg file (rename it to config.bak)
-rename this file so there's no 'seanzky_' in the prefix
-set sensitivity to your liking
If my config is close to what you like but would like to tweak it some more to fit your style, please let me know. I'll gladly share my resources so you can check out some of the CVARs you might not be familiar with. I saw a ton of the old stuff deprecated and was completely lost myself, so there's no shame in feeling like a noob all over again. Hehe. -
Gun shot sound is terrible in this game

Yes I agree... CS Go is not of my taste for several reasons, but it's ok
