    Can you play cs 1.6 besides just source on the individual CS:Source game pack or must I purchase half life 2?

    You need to either purchase CS 1.6 or the original HL in order to be able to play CS 1.6. It is not part of the HL2 package.

    As 'Budding' said, cs 1.6 is not included in either the cs:s package OR the HL2 default package. It's quite hard to get hold of the HL2 package with it in.

    Besides, unless you want to make your own maps, isn't cs:s loads better?!?!???
