I started playing wow in wotlk and ran everything on ultra with shadows turned down with no hitches on this machine, 25 man raids worked splendidly.

Now that cataclysm came out I've been getting crappy frame rates in 25 man raids, settings are the same, hardware is the same but for some reason my frame rate is horrible dropping into 19-20. Lowering settings to all low gives me 5 extra fps.

I tried disabling addons, updating drivers and all that good stuff, something I noticed is that cpu/gpu usage never goes to 100%. Here have a look.

So I thought I would check to see if any other games have this problem and it seems to be wow only, here is what usage looks like while playing tf2.

I've had the same problem as you. I think it is due to some changes that were made to WoW's graphics engine. Due to this I think the game just became more graphically demanding/cpu demanding.
