I was deciding to pick up two 6970s and run them in crossfire, but then I read somewhere that crossfire couldn't run in windowed mode. Wondering if this is true with 6970s and if so why. It appears for me to be such a weird problem. Does that also mean only one 6970 runs everything else besides full screen gaming? (because everything else is practically windowed?)
Sorry my understanding of this type of things is kinda limited :p

Well, "everything else" requires very little GPU power anyhow. You can run Aero off an IGP without problem. Unless you game in windowed mode, which not sure why you would to begin with, it shouldn't be an issue. And if you're concerned about some of these browser games, well, a single 6970 will be overkill to begin with.
