"CryENGINE 3 is a revolutionary change from our previous PC-only engines and we're applying a similar revolution to the service we provide to developers using the software to create extraordinary games. CryENGINE 3 will set the benchmark for complete game engine solutions in performance, and services to game engine licensees and their players. We've been preparing a long time for CryENGINE on consoles and we're confident that Crytek will again amaze developers at GDC." added Carl Jones, Director of Business Development CryENGINE. "
what do u think about this guys?
-
can it do my taxes?
-
but i am curious as to cryteks technological advancements, considering we still hold crysis /warhead highly -

Oh god, they haven't even been able to optimize Cry Engine 2, what the hell do we they a Cry Engine 3 for? To make another game only a small percentage of PC gamers will buy because the game is impossible to run for most people?
-
Still need some screenies!
-
maybe the focus of cryengine 3 is to get games sorta like crysis to run on the consoles, since crytek now has timesplitters (free radical)... who knows the mind boggles
-
And the best part is, that they will be doing multiplatform games with it.
-
I guess now my Gateway P-6831FX (which I bought SPECIFICALLY to play CRYSIS) will need to die * stabs it while crying*
HONESTLY, I dont care how much it will tax a PC, since the graphics it HAD the day it came out were worth giving up my testicles
So I will make sure I have a PC able to play Very High looking graphics when it comes out, its worth every single penny (through custom settings and mods)
And come on, they are holding strong during the economy, they rule the game of graphics and hopefully play the Source Engines/Unreal Engines scalability game -
it seems it the CryEngine 3 doesn't really take the graphical step "forward" but merely an optimized engine for the consoles...so what does it do for us PC gamers?

Lol i guess this is for all the people who have been crying that crysis wasnt on consoles....
-
Oh great, Crysis 2 will most likely be a multiplatform game and probably toned down for the console crowd, just like FEAR 2 was vs FEAR 1. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic.
It already looks like CryEngine 3 will just be a small improvement over 2 so the "peasant" consoles can handle it, it won't be as big a transition as CryEngine 1 to 2. Consoles are always holding us back but yet their numbers are far bigger so of course developers will pay them attention, its not surprising.
I hope the PC version will still be by far the most superior version. I don't really mind consoles getting PC exclusives as long as they don't get content we will not, such as The Witcher for consoles will have things the PC version won't and also a whole new real-time combat system and such. I hope maybe it can be ported back to PC. -

Hey, I won't complain if games using this new engine offer the same level of visuals as in the Crysis series, minus the tax it requires performance wise. In that regard, I think the Unreal Engine is much more efficient.

Maybe this will create an all new franchise(not crysis) for the consoles? Maybe even 360 and PS3 BOTH get there own exclusives that would be neat
-
We'll see some actual work with this new engine before making any more assumptions, sales pitches on new technology don't interest me as much as actual footage. -
When I hear CryEngine 3, I am expecting as large a graphical jump as from CryEngine 1 to 2 (Far Cry to Crysis). I hope that will be the case at least on the PC. I was impressed running Crysis on Medium back in December 2007, then I was able to run it on High in July 2008 and finally Very High in January 2009 as our computer hardware at home was upgraded (me and my brother) and the engine has kept impressing me.
I hope CE3 can do the same and it will not be hindered by the PS3 and 360. Let them have the engine and run games on Low-Medium, but give us the option of turning it up and blowing them the hell away!

You should buy the older ones Rahul you get it for cheap right now. Those games had amazing replay value and the mulitplayer was really amazing.
-
man the first fps i played was timesplitters 2 on ps2, whew the memories, it was great and i didn't even play online but i would still play it all the time
-
I'm interested in seeing how well this will run on the consoles, which if im not mistaken is esentially a geforce 7800 in the ps3

Wow i was ALWAYS certain the PS3 had a 7950 GTX i guess not.

as is to be expected the pc blows the console ot of the water, but whats sad is as much as they hype the consoles up with their graphics, they really suck. Maybe its just me but the console version looks like the first far cry. I really wish Killzone 2 would come to pc so i can really see what that game is capable of.

Lol you kinda had me there too
Also Johna when the new timesplitters comes out lets play. -
Timesplitters was a fantastic Co-oP FPS, I think the best part about it, atleast on the GC one, was that each level had it's own set of weapons completely unique to that time and scenario. Time splitters 4 using the crysis engine would be awesome, but the new CryEngine 3 actually just looks to me like a direct port of the cryengine 2 but for consoles, with only minor changes for performance. One of the devs already said that the consoles can run the engine on medium settings, and that's in 720P (1280x720)
Also, if you didn't read, the engine is being created as a pre-made engine for console developers, basically meaning it's a preset package of development tools for other game developers to liscense and more quickly create their games. While I'm sure Crytek will also be making games of their own using it, most of the new titles will probably be from other third party devs. -

So C.E.3 will be used in what?

Kotaku- The successor to the company's current engine, CryENGINE 2 has been dubbed - wait for it - CryENGINE 3, and settles our questions over what that new logo was for. It also boasts that it's not only ready for the current generation of hardware - including, for the first time, PS3 & 360 - but the next generation as well, boasting of "scalable computation and graphics for all major upcoming platforms".
-
All I can say is:
1- Cryengine 3 is just updated so its more up to date like UT"3"
2- Some graphical improvements, WAY more efficient and scalable
3- Console version will NOT be directly affecting the PC version in any way -
so will the new Crysis Maximum edition use cryengine 3?
-
CryEngine 3 !!
