SO... I'm having this problem with Crysis... like most people![]()
I've adjusted an autoexec.cfg accordingly and properly to avoid having rocks, trees, barrels, etc from just appearing out of thin air as you walk through the levels.
However, things are STILL popping up out of nowhere, no matter what I do; shadows, rocks, textures... they just appear out of nowhere...
I'm using a quad-core sager np9261, 4 gigs ram, vista 64bit, and I have two SLI-linked 512mb 8700M gts, would anyone have any suggestions as how to eliminate this problem? Also, I'm having problems getting decent framerates even when I don't have the graphics on that high, has anyone tweaked it to run smoothly at a decent framerate with what I've got in my laptop?
Any help would be great!
Thanks,

man u need a supercomputer to run that game... what a waste!
-
You will need to set the config to show the parts faster.
I forgot the config line, but you should be able to find it here :Attached Files:

Setting object detail up to med or high should fix this. Running in DX10 also helps for me.
Aternatively change the line:
"e_view_dist_ratio=" and set it to say 80(not too high)
In the object detail cfg file in crysis > game > config > CVarGroups.
Hope this helps -
well Crysis is gonna get pwnt by FC2
-
I've never had those problems you've described.
Mind you, Crysis ran better in DX9 as opposed to DX10.
And now that I've completed the game I can assertively say " Crysis shmysis". Fun but zero replayability. -

the most u'll get from this game after beating it is "trying" to run benchmarks
i bought the game but im hoping a friend will buy it from me, once u beat it its worthless. (and dont even mention multiplayer, most boring ever) -
Well i love the game! And DX10 feels so much more atmospheric in it, even though i have to play mostly low on it.
As a friendly suggestion.. play it again!
I found the second time through the game far more enjoyable than the first. Probably as you loosen up and just have fun with it; what games are for
As opposed to running down the same linear path and trying to do the same section of a level perfectly, 5 or 6 times *snooze* -
Also, Im waiting for mods for this game. O and I love messing around like in the demo they changed it where you get all the guns and get to fly a choppter. It fun trying to kill people with the propeller blade of the choppter...

What I really despised or found irritating about Crysis is the AI. I mean the enemy had an uncanny knack of knowing you were driving one of their vehicles which you took possession of without anyone seeing in the first place. They would immediately start shooting at you from a great distance. That's just one example.
If a decent mod comes out then perhaps I'll reinstall the game. -
Am I the only person that enjoyed it? The sci-fi and open-world elements really got me into the game.
-
Well i'm definatly the only one who thought the ai was brilliant.
Oh and hey signal.. Are you telling me you couldn't spot the difference between a korean driving a car and a giant brutish american in a glowing red ninja suit!
LMAO -
i liked getting it and just going crazy and destroying everything i could, the person who originally started this thread, ive tried running it on your specs...
good luck, because i got it to run on low textures with 1360 x 768. lawwlll

Ya he has 4000+ 3d marks, he should be able to run it on medium at a good res. I could run crysis smooth, all on low with a 9800 pro.

I actually hated the AI in both Crysis and Far Cry. Granted I have less to say about Crysis's AI as I've only played the demo.
But it never made much sense to me that in FC, you shoot someone on a guard tower thats really far away from you, move your position, and guys head straight toward you. Thats not realistic at all... They wouldn't know the exact position of the sniper let alone where they moved too... -

hopes up for FC2
maybe S.T.A.L.K.E.R : Clear sky

I do admit that some parts of the game SUCKED B***S, and some of the bugs in the game are unbelievably annoying, especially the escorting prophet missionBut it's a classic. I've been playing halo one for 6 years now and i'll be playing crysis for at least as long, unless they top it with the next one(not likely!)

Thats the big problem I had with Farcry... very unrealistic humans. They had some super hearing, vision and accuracy.
Though the accuracy bothers me the least. -
I was talking about crysis with that point. I played far cry up untill the bit with the weird alien things that sucked all the fun out of the game. As such i'm not a big fan of the game but in my experience the AI was the whole challange in it since the fps element of the game was mainly just point and click.
I'd also like to point out that there is very little about crysis that is realistic. -
No,actually a lot of Crysis is pretty realistic. The physics in the game is pretty awesome. Especially when turning the option to at least 'high' .
But the AI must be among the dumbest I`ve ever seen in a FPS.Albeit with a flavour of human stupidity. -
Turn it to very high on DX10 and play the "tank level".
Some of that human stupidity is hilarious! Especially in the sandbox editor.. throw in a hunter or two and watch em go -
True, but that`s about as real as it gets.
Crysis......
